5TH CANNIBAL SUSPECT APPEARS IN COURT EARLIER THAN EXPECTED

Pietermaritzburg - The fifth suspect in the "cannibalism" case appeared briefly at the Estcourt Magistrate's Court on Wednesday afternoon, a court official said on Thursday. Khayelihle Lamula, 32, of Esigodlweni area in Estcourt, faces a charge of conspiracy to commit murder and a murder charge. The media had been told by the police's provincial communications office that he would appear on Thursday, but when they arrived in court they were told that Lamula appeared the previous day. He was remanded in custody until Monday, August 28, for a formal bail application. IRAN ALLEGEDLY BANS UGLY TEACHERS AND FEMALES WITH FACIAL HAIR FROM CLASSROOM

Iran's education department has banned ugly teachers from the classroom, including women with facial hair or those suffering from acne. A list of proscribed ailments, including having a scar or a fungal infection was released by the FARS news agency. Anyone who is cross-eyed, has ugly facial moles or skin conditions such as acne or eczema faces redundancy. Women who have facial hair will also be sacked, along with teachers with fewer than 20 teeth or those suffering a fungal infection. Women are allowed to teach in Iran although they must wear a scarf covering their hair. Art teachers will be sacked if they report they are colourblind and infertile female teachers will also be banned from the classroom. According to Euro news Social media users also attacked the rules, prompting an advisor to President Hassan Rouhani to promise the list would be investigated.

A jilted lover chopped off a 15-year-old schoolgirl's hand with a sword at a busy Indian market in broad daylight. The attack took place at the Lakhimpur Kheri market, in India, when the victim was shopping with her younger brother. The girl was immediately rushed to a private hospital where doctors are trying to stitch her dismembered hand back on. Vinod Chaurasia, 19, is accused of attacking her and is alleged to have been stalking the girl for past few months. Vinod, who works at a welding workshop, spotted the girl shopping on Wednesday afternoon. Police claim he followed her to try and convince her to go out with him but when she turned him down, he took out the sword and cut off her hand. He then repeatedly struck her with the sword but fortunately, the crowd overpowered him and handed him over to the police. A restaurateur in New York City has reportedly apologized for — and fired — an employee who wrote "Ching Chong" on an Asian woman's receipt in place of her name. Ziggy Chau, a friend of the woman's daughter, first posted a photo of the receipt to Facebook last week, decrying the "racist staff" and urging the Facebook community to boycott the establishment. "Please boycott this place Cornerstone Cafe NYC until they publicly apologize," wrote Chau alongside a picture of the receipt, which clearly reads "Ching Chong" under both the "to go" and "customer name" sections. "Better yet, call them directly and let them know they have a racist staff," Chau added. It wasn 't a lucky day for an unidentified man in Umuonyeashi , Nsokpo Ogbaku in Mbaitolu LGA of Imo state , who has been arrested after a lady he captured and planned to use for rituals escaped . Reports online reveal that the man stabbed the lady several times before she was able to escape to a nearby house where she got help. Youths of the community mobilized themselves and searched for the man inside the bush where he was hiding. Some hours later , they caught him and handed him over to the police.

The Rivers state deputy governor, Dr Ipalibo Banigo, in a statement on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, asked the Police and other law enforcement agen­cies to ensure that the suspect is re-arrested and brought to justice without delay. She stressed that the report that the suspect es­caped from the hands of the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) is "totally unaccept­able and very embarrass­ing." Banigo who condoled with the bereaved family on the gruesome murder of their daughter, said that "as a mother, I am still numb with shock to hear that a man could defile an eight-year-old girl and go ahead to mutilate her body for purported money rituals."

A 72-years-old woman, Madam Victoria, yesterday narrated her experience in the hands of suspected Fulani herdsmen, who took turn to rape her in her farm in Ore in Odigbo LGA of Ondo State. A youth group under the auspices of Ondo State Youth Coalition (OSYC) and farmers yesterday converged on Akure, the state capital, to protest the rape of Victoria and Madam Ebun in Ore. Narrating her experience in the hands of her attackers, the septuagenarian said she was working on her farm on the fateful day when the two Fulani herdsmen took turn to rape her. She said: 'I was working on the farm when the two men invaded my farm and before I could question them on their mission in my farm, they gagged me and tore my clothes before they raped me one after the other. They threatened to kill me thereafter if I make any noise and they left me in the farm after injuring me." ISIS BEHEADS 11 IN LIBYA

At least 11 people have been beheaded in southern Libya following an attack apparently carried out by the Islamic State militant group (ISIS). Nine fighters loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA), the force aligned with Libya's eastern government, and two civilians were executed following an assault on a checkpoint 300 miles south of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, in Jufra. No group has claimed responsibility for the killings, but according to Agence France-Presse, LNA spokesman Colonel Ahmed al-Mesmari, ISIS carried out the gruesome attack. The onslaught against the LNA forces, under the command of Gaddafi-era General Khalifa Haftar, comes as Libyan military sources warn ISIS is regrouping following catastrophic defeats in December 2016. The meeting of the Federal Executive Council that holds every Wednesday did not hold yesterday. Yesterday would have afforded President Muhammadu Buhari who returned to the country on Saturday the opportunity of presiding over the council meeting for the first time in over three months. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed in a statement that the meeting would not hold. Adesina did not however disclose the reason behind the decision to cancel the meeting. But he said Buhari would yesterday receive the report of the investigation committee into the allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke. The statement read, "The meeting of the Federal Executive Council will not hold today.
