DOUBLE TRAGEDY ; COP KILLS OFFICER GIRLFRIEND THEN TURN GUN ON SELF

Two police officers are dead following what is believed to have been a murder suicide at the KwaDabeka police station, in Durban's Outer West, South Africa. Police sources said on Tuesday afternoon that an officer from Crime Intelligence had shot his girlfriend, Nontuthuko Mthembu, who was a policewoman and then turned the gun on himself. According to KwaDabela SAPS communications officer, Capt Mazwi Mbatha, the suspect, who was based at the Inanda Cluster, was in one of the offices with Mthembu at the KwaDabeka police station when they heard her screaming for help and asking for forgiveness. "We then heard about four gunshots and rushed into the office but unfortunately they were declared dead on scene," said Mbatha.

NORTH KOREA VOWS MORE MISSILE TESTS; UN CONDEMNS THEM AS 'OUTRAGEOUS'

North  Korean leader Kim Jong Un has vowed he will launch more ballistic missiles into the Pacific Ocean a day after Pyongyang flew a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead over Japan, North Korea's official news agency says. Kim's latest threat came as the United Nations Security Council unanimously condemned the August 29 launch as "outrageous" and called on all countries to enforce sanctions against Pyongyang. The council's resolution, which was supported by China and Russia, also called for "a peaceful, diplomatic, and political solution" and did not threaten new sanctions on North Korea. The Korean Central News Agency said on August 30 Kim viewed the launch as a "meaningful prelude" to containing Guam, the U.S. Pacific island territory with a military base.

A suspected ritualist at Obadeyi area in Ijaiye A ritualist den was on Wednesday discovered in a tunnel at the challenge area of Mushin, Lagos, three weeks after a similar den was discovered in Ikeja. On 9 August, the police apprehended a suspected ritualist in a drainage channel at Ile-Zik, close to Ikeja, on the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway. Concise News reported that a similar hideout was also uncovered at Obadeyi Ajala, in Ijaiye area. One of the suspected ritualists in the den discovered in Mushin is said to have been set ablaze, while two others were rescued by the Police from being lynched. Daily Sun reports that the tunnel where they were found leads to a moribund company. Syringes believed to be used in injecting their victims with sedative drugs were discovered in the hideout.

POLICE CHIEF ARRESTED FOR RITUAL KILLER'S ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY

A Divisional Police Officer in Rivers State (name withheld) has been arrested on the orders of the State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the escape of one Ifeanyi Dike, who killed an eight-year-old for alleged money ritual. A reliable police source disclosed that the DPO, who was arrested on Monday, was deeply involved in telephone calls between him and Johnbosco Okoroeze, a dismissed police sergeant, which indicated that there was a premeditated action by him to allow the suspected ritual killer to escape. MAN FOUND SEVERELY STABBED TO DEATH,POLICE INVESTIGATING MURDER

Part of Keney Park in Hartford is taped off and closed as police investigate the death of a man in his 20s who was found with several stab wounds Wednesday morning. Two park workers found the man's body around 10 a.m. near a bridge in a marshy area of the park, police said. The victim had been stabbed in the face and neck several times, according to police, and they believe the homicide happened overnight. "He's suffering from several puncture wounds to the face, neck and possibly more," Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley. Police said a man was stabbed several times in Keney Park.
