HOW EX PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S WIFE PAID 2.1BILLION NAIRA IN TO ACCOUNT IN 2 YEARS

      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) told the Federal High Court in Lagos Wednesday that wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, allegedly paid $6,791,599.64 (about N2,150,378,386.32) into her account between February 8, 2013 and January 30, 2015.       It said the money, which she allegedly directed her aides to pay into her account while her husband was President, was suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities. EFCC said Mrs Jonathan had earlier spent $949,282.98 (about N296,141,911) from the money.       The commission said she also withdrew another N100,000 from the account this month, leaving a balance of $5,731,173.55. It prayed the court to order the temporary forfeiture of the remaining sum to prevent her from further dissipating it. Justice Mojisola Olatoregun granted the order as prayed based on an ex-parte application by the EFCC. The commission said it found the money in an account numbered 2110001712 with Skye Bank Plc in

2 BRAZILIANS NABBED WITH 23KG OF COCAINE AT THE LAGOS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

        Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos have arrested two Brazilians who together attempted to smuggle over 23kg of cocaine into the country.         Dias Dos Santos Marcia Cristina, 36, was found with 9.4kg of cocaine in her bag and Lima Pereira Erick Diego, 20, had 14.465kg of cocaine in his bag. The duo, who traveled from São Paulo, claimed to be tourists.        Mitchell Ofoyeju, spokesperson for NDLEA, said in a statement that the drugs were carefully hidden in food cans inside their luggage. The cocaine has an estimated street value of N310 million.       Mr. Ofoyeju said that it was the first the NDLEA arrested Brazilians with cocaine at the Lagos airport. A jury found Preston Strong, 50, guilty of six counts of first-degree murder following a monthslong trial. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, and the jury will begin considering Strong's eligibility Friday. Prosecutors said Strong, who is already serving a life sentence for a separate slaying, spent hours killing 35-year-old Luis Rios, 29-year-old Adrienne Heredia and her four children, ages 6 to 13, in Yuma in 2005. CALIFORNIA DAD OF MISSING 5 YEAR OLD RELEASED FROM JAIL

LOS ANGELES –  A missing 5-year-old boy's father has been released from jail in an unexpected twist that only deepens the mystery behind the boy's disappearance. Investigators on Tuesday decided against presenting the case to prosecutors and moving forward with charges against Aramazd Andressian Sr., who was found unconscious Saturday at a South Pasadena park. His son, Armazd Andressian Jr., was nowhere to be found and remains missing four days later. Andressian Sr. was arrested later Saturday on suspicion of child endangerment and abduction and was being held on $10 million bail before his release Tuesday. Authorities would say only that the investigation was continuing, and would not say whether the father remains a suspect. On Tuesday authorities searched Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara County, but now don't believe the boy was there.

MAN FOUND GUILTY OF KILLING CHICAGO COP

CHICAGO –  A man has been found guilty in the 2010 death an off-duty Chicago police officer. It took a Cook County jury four hours Tuesday to find 25-year-old Bernard Williams guilty of first-degree murder in Officer David Blake's killing. The jury also found Williams guilty of armed robbery. Prosecutors said the then-18-year-old Williams lured Blake into an alley to kill the officer and raid a gun safe at his house. No physical evidence linked Williams to the killing of Blake, nor was the murder weapon recovered. However, several of Williams' friends testified he tried to recruit them to help in the murder and robbery, and then confessed after killing Blake. Assistant Public Defender Dylan Barrett told jurors that investigators targeted Williams "because of the pressure they felt to solve this crime."

GOVERNOR AYO FAYOSE DECLARES EKITI PART OF THE ANTICIPATED BIAFRA REPUBLIC

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has declared that his state is now part of Biafra,Dailypost reports. Speaking to newsmen, during the bail hearing of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court that sat in Abuja on Tuesday. “Ekiti State is now part of Biafra,” he declared. POLICE ARREST 8 PERSONS OVER MUSHIN GANG CLASH IN LAGOS

Eight persons alleged to be involved in a gang clash that led to the destruction of property in Idi-Oro, Mushin – Lagos have been arrested,the Lagos Police Command says. The command Spokesman, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday. Famous-Cole said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, had also deployed more police personnel to ensure peace in the area. He said the suspects, who were arrested in Idi Oro had machetes and axes in their possession “Normalcy has returned to the area and there is heavy police presence there. “The public should go about their business. There is a free- flow of traffic in the area now,” Famous-Cole said. The police had to deploy men of the Rapid Response Squad to bring the situation under control.

ANOTHER MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE,FAILS,RESCUED AND TAKEN IN

A 45 year old man has been rescued after he allegedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping into a well at a residence in Kujore street in the Ojota area of Lagos state yesterday April 25th. Men of the Lagos state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) were alerted at about 6am this morning after the man jumped into the 116 feet well.He was taken to the hospital for treatment by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service. Sources said the man, whose name is not identified yet, was found inside the 116ft well, but the process leading to the event could not be ascertained. Officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, LASEMA Response Team and other emergency respondents, however, responded to the situation and rescued the man alive from the well. Though the man sustained  fracture on his right hand and left knee joint dislocation he has been moved to hospital for treatment by the officials of the Lagos Ambulance Service.
