UITENHAGE SAPS LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR ROBBERY SUSPECTS

Police in Uitenhage have launched a manhunt for suspects who allegedly robbed a 54-year-old man in Uitenhage on Monday morning at about 11:15. It is alleged that the man was about to enter a financial institution in Caledon Street to deposit cash when he was approached by an unidentified male suspect who threatened him with a firearm. The suspect took the man’s bag and ran across the road towards a white VW Caddy that was stationary in the parking area. A relative of the man saw the incident occur and gave chase, driving into the VW Caddy with his bakkie.The suspect got out of the VW Caddy and jumped into a second red VW Polo and sped off. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.   Police are following up on all possible leads.Preliminary investigations revealed that the white VW Caddy was hijacked in KwaNobuhle on Tuesday.Police are warning business owners to make use of alternative means to deposit cash.

DSS ARRESTS TOP AFRICAN ISIS COMMANDER WANTED SINCE 2012 AND OTHER TERRORISTS

The State Security Service (SSS), on Saturday, announced the arrest of Husseini Maitangaran, a top commander of by Islamic State of West Africa (ISWA), otherwise known as Boko Haram. He was arrested in Kano on 31 August.  Maitangaran, according to a statement issued by the service, spearheaded several deadly attacks in Kano in 2012. The statement, signed by SSS spokesman, Tony Opuiyo, said the service arrested other top Boko Haram terrorists, who were part of a foiled plan to disrupt the last Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states.                               This followed the discovery of an elaborate plan by ISWA terrorists to launch attacks that would have disrupted the Eid-el-Kabir festivities that took place between 1 and 4th September.                          According to the SSS, the plan entailed gun attacks and suicide bombing on selected targets in the Federal Capital T

SENATOR DINO MELAYE Seems like the plot by Senator Dino Melaye"s political enemies(amongst whom is the non performing governor of Kogi state,Yahaya Bello) is gaining ground as a Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday dismissed the suit by Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, challenging the validity of the process of recalling him by his constituents. Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, in his judgment, ordered that the Independent National Electoral Commission “shall proceed with the recall process”. The judgment effectively terminated the earlier ex parte order made by another judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Justice John Tsoho, on July 6, 2017, directing parties to maintain status quo. But the Justice Dimgba, to whom the case was reassigned, ordered that the process shall only proceed with the recall process, subject to the service of the petition, the full list and signatures of persons in support of the recall process.

Operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service, Tin-Can Island Command has again impounded 1,100 pump action rifles. While briefing newsmen on Monday, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Colonel Hameed Ali (Rtd), who confirmed the seizure, said that the weapons were carefully concealed in a 1×20 feet container.   Controller General of Customs, Col. Alli, also disclosed already that a customs officer suspected to have cut the seal of the container without following due process, as well as a clerk at the command,  had been arrested in connection with the discovery. Recall that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had in May this year, intercepted 440 pieces of rifles at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos. Similarly, about three months before this time, the Federal Operations Unit of the service also intercepted 660 pieces of pump action rifles at Apapa Port, also in Lagos. A gunman with an assault rifle shot and killed a California sheriff's deputy and wounded two other officers at a Sacramento hotel.   Police believe a stolen vehicle ring was being run out of the hotel, which was later surrounded by officers searching for suspects.The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's vehicle theft task force was investigating the ring on Wednesday when officers engaged in a 20-mile car chase that began at the hotel. The police say they learned while arresting the two women in the suspected stolen car that one had a room at the hotel. Rocco Morabito *Top 'ndrangheta crime syndicate boss Rocco Morabito, who has been on the run from Italy since 1994, has been arrested in Uruguay where he had been living under a false name with a forged Brazilian passport. Reggio Calabria chief prosecutor Federico Cafiero de Raho said Morabito had played a big role in cocaine trafficking between South America and Milan, a distribution point for the drug to be sold elsewhere. According to the Guardian he was known as the 'cocaine king of Milan'. The Calabria-based 'ndrangheta is one of the world's biggest cocaine traffickers.  Italian interior minister Marco Minniti said Morabito has been convicted of mafia association and drug trafficking. Morabito must serve 30 years in Italian prison. Italian state radio said Morabito was arrested on Sunday in a Montevideo hotel, but had been living in a villa in Punta del Este, a resort town.

A man has been jailed for a year after posting on Facebook "let's kill every Muslim" in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena bombing. Keegan Jakovlevs, 22, from Wrexham, North Wales, was sentenced to 12 months behind bars at Mold Crown Court on Thursday after admitting publishing material with the intention of stirring up religious hatred. Jakovlevs posted the message, which was a public posting, shortly after the May 22 outrage by suicide bomber Salman Abedi, which killed 22 people and injured scores of others. His message read: "Thoughts with all the families in the horrible Manchester bombing (hands together in prayer symbol) but no let's not stop letting them in the country let's kill ever ... Muslim ... we see.. bet they would still send us down". The post was taken down shortly afterwards. One 14-year-old from Florida was tricked into believing he was talking to a girl, then blackmailed into repeatedly raping his one-year-old niece. Leighton threatened the teenager that he would post videos of the abuse online if he did not do more. The boy has since been charged by the US authorities. ABA- the Police in Abia State has said that there is no cause for alarm over yesterday's clash between soldiers and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Umuahia. Soldiers attached to the Forward Operation Base, FOB, Umuahia, had clashed with the IPOB, on Sunday, at Afara Ukwu community, Umuahia. In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Police Command, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police stated that the situation was instantly brought under control without loss of life. Ogbonna disclosed that a Policeman sustained a machete cut on his head and back, while one of the soldiers was injured in his left wrist including one Mrs. Grace Nwokeukwu of Umuobasi lsiama Afara, Umuahia who also had a machete cut on her head. He added that the victims were taken to Police Clinic, Umuahia for treatment and urged residents of the city to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.

ABUJA-THE  Nigerian Army claimed early Monday that its troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, in the North East, killed many Boko Haram terrorists in ambush at the early hours of Sunday. Also, its counterpart, the Nigerian Air Force said it struck some buildings occupied by the terrorists in a bomb raid, killing many terrorists.
