Robinson Uwak, a candidate of the ALL Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 House of Reps election in Akwa Ibom State, has accused Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of openly and shamelessly acting as a lawyer for Bassey Ekpeyong, a member of the House of Representatives who is a defendant in a lawsuit alleging that he a forged academic certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to the plaintiff, the judge had assumed the role of advocate for Mr. Ekpeyong, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He added that the judge's brazen partiality was a source of scandal and shock to lawyers and spectators, including a lawyer representing INEC. Noting that Justice Dimgba was one of the judges under investigation for corruption, Mr. Uwak remarked, "The leopard can never loose its spots

Yesterday there were media reports indicating that Mr. Mimiko' s convoy was stoned by aggrieved protesters while trying to visit the Dome Event Centre on Thursday in the company of Dr. Dosunmu Awolowo. ANAMBRA,FAST PACE OF GROWTH

Anambra State has been upbeat since 2003. Dr. Chris Ngige, as governor, took the state in a new direction, and his successor, Chief Peter Obi, continued in the same direction for the benefit of the people. The current governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is in the same mold. In one word, Anambra is not just in safe hands; it is now arguably the fastest developing state in Nigeria after Lagos. In education, for instance, it is ahead of every other state in virtually every external examination and contest. Its agricultural development program is second to none. Its security nexus is far superior to that of any other in Nigeria state, a development that has earned plaudits from the nation's top security brass. This is a remarkable achievement if we consider that only three years ago its prominent people were being kidnapped and killed at an alarming rate. Today the state is almost synonymous with peace, stability, and development. However, there are new signs that the state is under threat.

UNITED ACTION FOR DEMOCRACY CHALLENGES LAGOS STATE COMPOL OWOSENI TO DISCLOSE ALLEGED PROTEST HIJACKERS

United Action for Democracy (UAD) has challenged the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Fatai Owoseni, to disclose the identity of those he claimed were planning to hijack the February 6 nationwide protest to perpetrate evil. Mr. Owoseni had earlier claimed that he received information that hoodlums were planning to hijack the protest in order to create lawlessness and disorder. However, in a press release, the apparently skeptical UAD urged Mr. Owoseni to reveal the so-called hijackers. "We want CP Fatai Owoseni to publish the names of 'hoodlums' that are planning to hijack the protests. Otherwise, the public should note that the said hoodlums are going to be sponsored by the police and the state agents themselves," said the UAD, a civil society group. The group condemned critics of the planned nationwide protest, especially the Nigeria Police, adding that the police have no right to stop any protest. Stated the UAD: "We have been monitoring the harsh resp

TROUBLE IN THE #ISTANDWITHBUHARIGROUP

Maryam Shettima, the National Coordinator of #IStandWithBuhari group, says the recent activities of her members has shown that she is surrounded by "petty elements whose approach to issues is without depth and never intellectual or deeply thought out." She said this in a Facebook post, a few hours ago, while reacting to the recent statement issued by the group, renouncing Shettima as their national coordinator. In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, Ms. Shettima said that the group has been lying by omission. She questioned the credibility of the group and accused them of merely using her personality to curry favors. She insinuated that the group might be using their affiliation with the president for personal gain but said she has never gained any monetary benefit from the group. "Credibility has always been a question there. What are they really up to?" she queried. Maryam Shetty and President Muhammadu Buhari She also said it was necessary for her to
