COURTS WON'T ALLOW YOUR RE-ELECTION BID,FALANA TELLS FAYOSE "IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL"

AYO FAYOSE Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has said that the Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose will not be allowed by the courts to contest again for Governorship position in 2018 ‎to serve his first term which was truncated in 2006 as a recent statement credited to him claimed. Fayose was impeached about seven months to the end of his first term in 2006, but the Supreme Court in 2014 reinstated him as the Governor of the state. As the Governorship elections in the state perches round the corner, Mr. Fayose has been reported to have said that he would seek a re-election to complete his first tenure which was truncated in 2006. He reportedly made the statement on Monday. A 14-year-old secondary school student is facing trial at an Ikeja chief magistrate’s court over the defilement of his neighbour’s seven-year-old daughter.  The accused, who resides with his parents in Bariga, Lagos, according to police prosecutor, Raphael Donny, broke into the toilet where the girl was easing herself, and defiled her. He said the accused committed the offence in December 2016, noting “it was the cry of the girl that alerted the mother, who immediately rushed to the scene.  “When the mother saw blood stains on the child’s clothes, she shouted and efforts to apprehend the boy were unsuccessful as he ran away from the house. The case was reported at the police station, while the boy was later sighted in Agege and arrested by the police.” The accused, however, denied the charge.  Chief Magistrate D. RAPE;12 YEAR OLD GIRL SERIALLY RAPED BY HER FATHER AND BROTHER

A 56-year-old man, Sunday Adimagwu, and his son, Kenneth, 21, were yesterday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s court and charged with defiling a 12-year-old girl. The father is being tried for defiling his own daughter, while the son was arraigned for allegedly defiling the same girl— his step-sister.  Both the father, a driver, and the son, a trader, live at Ajangbadi, Okokomaiko, a suburb of Lagos, on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The prosecutor, Inspector Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed between September 2016 and April 2017 at the apartment of the accused.  Ogu said the 12-year-old girl had been staying with her father and the step-mother, following a separation between her mother and the father. A chef, Godwin Obot, 40, was arraigned in Lagos on Wednesday for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter after luring the girl into his room with soft drink. The accused was brought before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court, charged with defilement of a minor.  Obot, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kikelomo Ayeye, directed that Obot must provide two sureties, one of whom should be a community leader. Ayeye said the other surety should be a civil servant on grade level 16.  She said the accused should be remanded in prison if he failed to meet the bail conditions. The Prosecutor, Insp. MANCHESTER, England (AP) — British police and intelligence agencies arrested three more suspects Wednesday in connection with the Manchester suicide bombing and moved quickly to secure key sites across the country, including Buckingham Palace and the British Parliament at Westminster. Home Secretary Amber Rudd said the bomber, identified as British-born Libyan Salman Abedi, “likely” did not act alone when he killed 22 people and wounded dozens at an Ariana Grande concert Monday night in Manchester. She said he had been known to security forces “up to a point.” Officials are examining Abedi’s trips to Libya as they worked to piece together his allegiances and foil any new potential threats. MAN ON TRIAL FOR CUTTING OFF NEIGHBORS NOSE

A 41 year- old man, Uche Odinaka has been arraigned before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for allegedly cutting off his neighbour’s nose. The prosecutor, Mrs Ekugbe Biokoro, told the court that the accused committed the offence on the May 7, 2017 at No 5 Obi street, Asaba. She said Odinaka assaulted his neighbour, one Uche Ukwuraivwe and used a machete to cut the complainant’s nose during a scuffle. Biokoro said that the offence was punishable under Section 355 of Criminal Code,Cap C21 Vol 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N120,000 and a surety in like sum. The Magistrate, Mrs Okonkwo Akanume, ordered that the surety must be a civil servant residing within the jurisdiction of the court, own a landed property in Asaba and should deposit two passport photographs with the court. Akanume adjourned the case till May 30, for definite hearing.

A 20-year-old man, Olayinka Bamgboye, was arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrate’s’ Court on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing one Waheed Alagbede. Bamgboye, who resides at No.5, Fafunmi Street, Ajasa, Lagos, is facing a count charge of assault.The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told court that the accused committed the offence on April 28. Egunjobi said the accused stabbed Alagbede with a knife after giving him punches and inflicting serious injuries on him. The prosecutor said that the accused assaulted Alagbede because he refused to apologize when he flashed touch light in his face. He said that the offence contravened Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.Section 172 prescribes three-year jail term for assault. The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. The Police in Katsina state yesterday paraded two suspected motorcycle robbers, Umar Sada alias ‘Yaume’ and Ahmed Adamu alias ‘Dindingi’ both of Kofar Sauri area of Katsina metropolis for killing three persons and stealing their motorcycles which they sold off to a buyer from Niger republic for N9000. The duo who were apprehended by the state Commissioner of Police’s surveillance Corp, said they were offered N3,000 for any motorcycle they steal and that in the three occasions they have stolen motorcycles, they killed the owners, took the motorcycles and sold it to their buyer who rewarded them with N3,000 cash for each operation.
