Two police officers are dead following what is believed to have been a murder suicide at the KwaDabeka police station, in Durban's Outer West, South Africa. Police sources said on Tuesday afternoon that an officer from Crime Intelligence had shot his girlfriend, Nontuthuko Mthembu, who was a policewoman and then turned the gun on himself. According to KwaDabela SAPS communications officer, Capt Mazwi Mbatha, the suspect, who was based at the Inanda Cluster, was in one of the offices with Mthembu at the KwaDabeka police station when they heard her screaming for help and asking for forgiveness. "We then heard about four gunshots and rushed into the office but unfortunately they were declared dead on scene," said Mbatha.

North  Korean leader Kim Jong Un has vowed he will launch more ballistic missiles into the Pacific Ocean a day after Pyongyang flew a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead over Japan, North Korea's official news agency says. Kim's latest threat came as the United Nations Security Council unanimously condemned the August 29 launch as "outrageous" and called on all countries to enforce sanctions against Pyongyang. The council's resolution, which was supported by China and Russia, also called for "a peaceful, diplomatic, and political solution" and did not threaten new sanctions on North Korea. The Korean Central News Agency said on August 30 Kim viewed the launch as a "meaningful prelude" to containing Guam, the U.S. Pacific island territory with a military base.

On 9 August, the police apprehended a suspected ritualist in a drainage channel at Ile-Zik, close to Ikeja, on the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway. A local news source, Portal de Angola, reported on Saturday that three young men were detained after the attack. According to the report, some 7,000 worshippers were at a venue on the outskirts of Luanda for the weekend-long convention. Forty-three victims were rushed to the hospital, but no deaths have been reported. A witness, Abraham Kituxi, told Portal de Angola that his sister-in-law was one of the first to collapse. Fort Worth officers wounded a man Saturday night after he came out of a house with a gun and fired at them, police said. The officers had responded about 9:15 p.m. to a domestic disturbance at the home in the 900 block of East Shaw Street near Berry Street in South Fort Worth. The man, whose name was not released, was in the backyard arguing as police arrived. When he approached with a gun, the officers ordered him repeatedly to drop it. Police officers The Ondo State Police Command says it had arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and killing of two female students of the Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo state. The Public Relations Officer of the command, Femi Joseph, revealed that one of the suspects was arrested on Friday after participating in a robbery operation in Ondo town, while the other accomplices were arrested on Saturday. Nyesom Wike, Rivers state governor, says he is ready to risk his life to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from winning the governorship election in 2019. Speaking at a thanksgiving service in honour of George Sekibo, the sacked senator who represented Rivers east in the national assembly, Wike charged his supporters to be ready to fight. He also accused the federal government of destroying key national institutions through their "poor governance model". He said APC had made the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to "metamorphose into rigging machines that threaten the peace of the country". "Instead of bringing change as they promised, things are getting worse. They have introduced extreme fraud in the country, especially denying the people their mandate," the governor said. "2019, they will not succeed. As far as we are concerned, we have no senator in Rivers east. The man going there has no capacity to represe
