Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe Zimbabwe's main opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has re-united with his former allies to forge a coalition to end President Robert Mugabe's near four-decade hold on power in elections next year. Mugabe, in power since independence from British colonial rule in 1980, has been endorsed as his party's candidate for next year's vote despite his advanced age at 93 and signs of failing health. At a rally in the capital, the opposition Movement for Democratic Change leader Tsvangirai told supporters he was joining forces with two former deputies to face down Mugabe's ZANU-PF party. "For everything else to happen we have to unite as opposition parties," Tsvangirai said. "We have travelled this journey together and we will complete it together. We are rising above this needless and unhealthy competition." In 2008, Tsvangirai beat Mugabe in the first round of voting, but lost in a run-off marred by violence and intimidat

At least three acts of jungle justice were recorded across Lagos in the past one week, with angry residents threatening to attack security agents who attempted to stop them. On Tuesday, two alleged kidnappers were set ablaze at Ajala Bus St

If President Trump's relationship with his former ally Senator Bob Corker was frayed before, it now appears to be ruptured completely. The two Republicans reignited their feud on Tuesday after the president did not take kindly to Corker's criticism of his leadership and his suggestion that Trump "stay out" of congressional negotiations over a tax bill. In a trio of television interviews, the increasingly outspoken Tennessee senator repeated his dim assessment of Trump's performance and went further than he—or any elected Republican—has gone in questioning the president's fitness for office. Calling Trump "an utterly untruthful president," Corker said he was not a role model for the nation's children and declared unequivocally that he would not support him for reelection in 2020. "He's obviously not going to rise to the occasion as president," Corker said on CNN. He accused Trump of "constant non-truth telling" and said he
