2017 "FELABRATION" TAGGED "THE PROPHECY" TO HOLD OCTOBER

The annual festival in celebration of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, 'Felabration', will hold on 9 October.

Felabration is an annual festival which brings Nigerians from all walks of life together to celebrate the life of the late Afrobeat legend.

The annual festival, marked on Fela's birthday since his death in 1997, is themed "The Prophecy".

This year's edition also marks the 20th anniversary of Fela's death.

The festival, which holds for a week, attracts thousands of Afro beat lovers and visitors from around the world to the New Africa Shrine.

Fela's daughter Yeni Kuti instituted the Felabration festival.

The festival will feature musical performances, art competition, Afrobeat Talent Hunt, Fela Debates, Symposium, Secondary Schools Debate and the Felabration Carnival.

It has over the years attracted many high class musical acts around the world.

With performance from the likes of Fela's first son,Femi Kuti, Awilo Longomba, Les Nubians, 2Baba, Asa, Lagbaja, Hugh Masakela, Baba Maal among others.

NSCDC operatives File The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it discovered an illegal refinery in a rented apartment in Sokoto state. The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Babangida Dutsin-ma, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Sokoto. Dutsin-ma said the commandant's surveillance team discovered the "mini refinery" located in a rented apartment owned by a popular Sokoto businessman, along Bodinga road in the outskirt of Sokoto metropolis. The Rivers State Police Command has nabbed a suspected cultist, who allegedly used a kidnap victim's intestines to prepare pepper soup. The Command also disclosed that two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the ritual killing of the eight-year-old girl, Miss Chikamso Mezuwuba, by a suspected ritualist, Ifeanyichikwu Dike. NIGERIA POLICE SPEAK ON MOB JUSTICE INCIDENTS IN LAGOS

The  Police in Lagos have warned residents of the state against subjecting suspected criminals to jungle justice. Fatai Owoseni, the state police commissioner, in a statement on Friday warned that those found involved in the "unlawful and barbaric act" would be prosecuted.   "There is no justification for jungle justice on suspected persons," Mr. Owoseni said.   "It is barbaric and uncivilized. It is a manifestation of the erosion of our moral values and a disregard to sanctity of human lives.
