Image
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the forfeiture of all monies in bank accounts owned by corporate organisations, government agencies or individuals that are without bank verification number (BVN). The owners of the accounts will have 14 days to claim ownership of same and show cause why the proceeds in the accounts should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. "NIGERIANS DO NOT TRUST BUHARI" FORMER PRESIDENT JONATHAN

Image
The Media Office of former President Goodluck Jonathan has accused the federal government and the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media, Femi Adesina of peddling falsehood over claims that Nigerians did not protest the hike in fuel price by the Buhari government because they trusted the government. In his response to Adesina and the Nigerian government, over the claims, Jonathan's Media Office said fear, not trust was why Nigerians did not protest en masse against fuel price hike under Buhari. "When Femi Adesina says that it is because of trust that Nigerians did not rise up against the Buhari administration when it increased the pump price of petrol from N87 to N145, he betrays a deep ignorance and arrogance. "First of all, it was not Nigerians that rose up again the Jonathan administration when that government increased the price of petrol on January 1, 2012. It was actually members of the All Progressive Congress who sponsored the protests," said the stat...

FILIPINO TERROR SUSPECT IS DEAD

Image
Filipino soldiers walk past destroyed buildings in Marawi after President Rodrigo Duterte declared the city "liberated" on October 17, 2017. (AFP Photo/Ted Aljibe) MANILA , Philippines (AP) — DNA tests have confirmed the death of one of the FBI's most-wanted terror suspects, who the Philippine military reported was killed in a final battle to quell an Islamic State group-linked siege in southern Marawi city, US and Philippine officials said Saturday. US Embassy spokeswoman Molly Koscina told The Associated Press that DNA tests done in Virginia at the request of the Philippine military confirmed the death of Isnilon Hapilon. Washington has backed efforts by the Philippines, a treaty ally, to combat terrorism for years. "This is yet another example of how the US is supporting our friend, partner and ally in the fight against terror," Koscina said. Hapilon and Omarkhayam Maute, another leader of the Marawi siege, were killed in a gunbattle Monday in a push by thous...

DAILY DEVOTION FOR TODAY 20th Oct 2017

Image
A Song Of Resurrection   A daily devotion for October 20th   From your friends at  RayStedman.org     Read: Psalm 40       He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD (Psalm 40:2-3).       The Holy Spirit spoke marvelously through David, causing him to record his own experiences and yet express truths that were beyond his experience. His language grew greater than the event he was trying to describe. The only ultimate fulfillment was to be in those coming days when the Messiah would appear among men in the flesh. Psalm 40 is, in a sense, our Lord's own autobiography. He Himself tells us why He came to earth, what was accomplished, and what His experiences were. This is a description of resurrection.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire  or, as the Hebrew has it,  out ...

RAPE ; BOSS RAPES HOUSE KEEPER AND DARES HER TO DO WORSE

Image
I have been with the family for about two years now but as I write this, I am in tears because of what I have neem going through in the hands of my master who has turned me into his sex slave. I am an orphan and since I was 16-years-old, I have been struggling to fend for myself and my younger ones. I was brought from my hometown in the South-South to Lagos by an aunt who has been using me as her meal ticket. Instead of my aunt who had promised to either send me to school or make me learn a trade to fulfill her promises, she has been giving me out as a maid to different families while she collected my salaries with the promise of helping me save them. I got this new job after I was sent packing by my former employers who accused me of bringing thieves to rob their home. God knows I was innocent of the accusation but they would not listen to my explanations. They got me arrested, locked me up, charged me to a court and I was remanded in prison custody for three weeks before I was grante...

AMERICAN PRESIDENTS' CLUB IS TURNING AGAINST IT'S NEWEST MEMBER WHO HARDLY GIVES A HOOT

Image
Breaking  the code of silence that retired commanders in chief normally maintain about their successors, both  George W. Bush  and Barack Obama delivered clear jabs at the current occupant of the Oval Office on Thursday. President Donald Trump, however, likely didn't feel a thing. His entire political brand stands as a living rebuke to the political establishment that both men once led and to the traditionalists who believe his behavior is eroding the prestige of the presidency itself. While neither Bush nor Obama mentioned Trump by name or referred to  his claims this week  that he had been more attentive to relatives of slain US service members than they were, they used coincidental events to register their alarm with Trump's politics. In New York, Bush delivered a strong indictment of Trump's populist nationalism, condemning trade protectionism and bemoaning how politics had fallen prey to "conspiracy theories" and "outright fabrication." He also warn...

WITHOUT MENTIONING TRUMP,FORMER PRESIDENTS BUSH AND OBAMA IMPLICITLY REBUKE HIM

Image
Neither of them mentioned President Trump by name but two of his predecessors emerged from political seclusion on Thursday to deliver what sounded like pointed rebukes of the current occupant of the Oval Office and the forces of division that propelled him to power. In separate and unrelated appearances, former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama both warned that the United States was being torn apart by ancient hatreds that should have been consigned to history long ago and called for addressing economic anxiety through common purpose. While not directly addressing Mr. Trump, neither left much doubt whom and what they had in mind. Mr. Bush, the last Republican to hold the White House, spoke out at a conference he convened in New York to support democracy, noting that America first had to "recover our own identity" in the face of challenges to its most basic ideals. While Mr. Trump seeks to raise barriers to trade and newcomers, lashing out at targets with relish, Mr. ...

The San Antonio Spurs head coach is a five-time NBA champion and a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but he has always had vision that extends beyond the game. The Wall Street Journal once explored quite wonderfully how Popovich discusses and tests his players on American history and current events, with the ultimate goal that they will be more informed and discerning citizens. He has mused openly about whether America is an empire in decli...

SUE NEILL-FRASER MURDER CASE,

Image
PHOTO In 2010, a jury found Susan Neill-Fraser killed Bob Chappell on a yacht and dumped his body in the Derwent River. A play focused on one of Tasmania's most divisive criminal cases is set to open just one week before a long-awaited "last chance" appeal begins in court. The Tasmanian Theatre Company's production An Inconvenient Woman makes its debut on October 24, with a sold-out opening show. The production centres on the case of Sue Neill-Fraser, who is serving a 23-year sentence after being convicted of the murder of her de facto partner Bob Chappell, 65, who went missing from the couple's yacht Four Winds on Australia Day in 2009. Mr Chappell's body was never found. The case sharply divided Hobart public opinion over Neill-Fraser's guilt or otherwise. "An Inconvenient Woman does not make any judgment about Susan Neill-Fraser's guilt or innocence, but asks probing questions about a judicial system under the spotlight," the play's pr...

Supporters of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during the trials of their leader Mr Nnamdi Kanu and three others,  00268/12/1/2017 Outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has threatened to confront security operatives if the federal government failed to produce its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, dead or alive, on Tuesday in court. The IPOB leader has not been seen since the Nigerian Army allegedly invaded his home in September. Kanu, who was arrested in Lagos on 14 October, 2015, for alleged treasonable felony, among others, was released in April, 2017, after Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had granted him bail. He was ordered to return to court to face his trial on 17 October. And IPOB, in a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, said: "The barefaced lies of the Nigerian Defence Minister, General Mansur Dan Ali, and that of the Buhari regime against our leader and organisation is beginning to unravel before the eyes of the world. "By admitting public...

Image
Pedestrians walk in front of a large video screen in Tokyo broadcasting a news report showing North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un *Donald Trump has repeatedly hinted that military action would be the only solution  *North Korea has said they are not interested in diplomatic solutions to its tensions with the US until it develops a missile capable of reaching the east coast of America. A North Korean official confirmed Pyongyang's strategy to CNN, adding that "before we can engage in diplomacy with the Trump administration, we want to send a clear message that the DPRK has a reliable defensive and offensive capability to counter any aggression." The latest comment adds to the increasing tension between the US and the isolated Asian nation with its seemingly mercurial leader Kim Jong Un . Donald Trump has publicly traded insults with him, giving him the nickname " Rocket Man " and referring to him as such during the president's speech in front of the United Nation...
