A pregnant British woman from Leeds who was arrested in Rwanda on suspicion of plotting to undermine President Paul Kagame is back in the UK.
Violette Uwamahoro was granted bail last month by a court which ruled that her detention over charges of spreading state secrets was not warranted.

 Her arrest while in Rwanda for a family funeral caused an uproar, with rights groups calling for her release.
Her family wanted the UK to intervene, saying she faced an “unfair” trial.
It is unclear whether her return to Britain was facilitated by the British.

A spokesperson for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said last month that consular staff in Kigali were in touch with local authorities over Mrs Uwamahoro’s detention.
On 27 March, the Leeds youth worker appeared in court in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, where her lawyers argued for her release.
The judge decided there was no evidence which suggested the expectant mother should remain in detention, ordering her release on bail.
Mrs Uwamahoro’s husband Faustin Rukundo, who lives in exile in the UK, was adamant she was being victimised for his role as an opposition activist.

TERRORIST LEADER SHEKAU An “alarming” number of children, most of them girls, have been used by Boko Haram as suicide bombers in the first months of 2017, UNICEF said Wednesday. Experts said the number of children used in suicide attacks by Boko Haram surged to 27 in the first quarter of this year, compared to nine over the same period in 2016. PHOTO OF THE DECEASED BEEN TAKEN AWAY An Assistant Superintendent of Customs has allegedly committed suicide in Lungu Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja. The cause of the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Sources said the man, identified as Christian, 44, locked himself in a room and hung himself with a rope on Saturday. A source said the deceased, who was unmarried, was staying with his brother and was said to have been recently transferred to Lagos before the incident happened. The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the brother whom the deceased stayed with was at a barber’s shop when the incident happened. He said the man was confirmed dead at the Kubwa General Hospital. “Exhibits recovered include some drugs and knife.” Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was suffering from depression.

Gunmen suspected to be militants on Thursday morning invaded Lagos State Model College, Igbo Nla, Epe, Lagos, abducting the principals and some students. The kidnappers were said to have stormed the school in the early hours when the students were at the morning assembly. The gunmen abducted the principal of the junior secondary school, Mr. Oyesola and Mr. Akirinmade who is the Principal of the senior secondary school. They also abducted some of the students. Presenting the case to the House of Representatives, the member representing Epe Constituency, Wale Raji, appealed to the House to call on the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to treat the case with utmost urgency. Two people were killed and eight others were wounded May 7, 2017, in an attack near the site of a memorial where a man was slain earlier in the day in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said. It happened in the 2600 block of West 46th Place, police said. The men and women gathered at a makeshift memorial Sunday, down the block from where a man in his 20s had been found shot to death between parked cars in the Southwest Side's Brighton Park neighborhood.
