30 NEW ILLEGAL REFINERIES FOUND IN RIVERS STATE

Victor Choji, the Executive Officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, Port Harcourt, said this during the destruction of one of the illegal refineries on Thursday. He said all the refineries were discovered in Asari Toru Local Government area of Rivers, with 40 huge metallic storage tanks . The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some of the storage tanks were filled with petroleum products suspected to be diesel and crude oil. 10 YEAR OLD RAPE VICTIM DENIED ABORTION BIRTHS BABY GIRL IN INDIA

A10-year-old rape victim whose plea for an abortion was rejected by India's Supreme Court has given birth to a baby girl in the northern Indian CITY of Chandigarh, a doctor said on Thursday. The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was allegedly raped repeatedly by her uncle for several months. The crime came to light when the victim was taken to hospital on complaining of stomach ache last month where she was found to be over 30 weeks pregnant. On July 28, the Supreme Court had dismissed a plea seeking its nod for terminating the 32-week-old pregnancy of the rape survivor after taking note of a medical report that abortion was neither good for the girl nor for the foetus. Last month her parents asked the country's top court to allow her to have a late-term abortion but the request was turned down. The surviving member of the National Youth Service Corps, Ngozi Oformezie, who sustained injuries in the three-storeyed building which collapsed in Owerri , Imo State, is dead. Oformezie died on Wednesday , two days after her boyfriend and fellow corps member , Chinedu Isiogugu , gave up the ghost . Her death brings the casualty figure to six after four persons– two babies and two adults – died at the scene of the incident on Sunday. The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the death . " She was transferred from the police clinic in Owerri to the University Teaching Hospital , Port Harcourt , Rivers State , on Tuesday for further medical observation.
