Boyfriend not poverty alleviation scheme – Reno Omokri Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Electronic Media, Reno Omokri, has said having a boyfriend is not a poverty alleviation scheme. He urged women to learn a trade or have a business instead of being dependent on a boyfriend to provide all their needs. According to him, this will prevent many young ladies from unwanted pregnancies,sexually transmitted diseases and heartbreak. How to stop unsolicited text messages – NCC In a bid to enlighten telecommunications consumers on their rights to quality telecoms services, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has urged subscribers who want to stop unsolicited text messages from entering their phones to text “STOP” to “2442.” In a statement signed by NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Tony Ojobo, the development is said to be part of the ongoing campaign to educate consumers on their rights to better services. Man allegedly chops off pregnant woman’s hand A man, who was engaged in a fight with his neighbour in Isaba-Ekiti, allegedly chopped off the left wrist of a pregnant woman, Aisha Adam, with a cutlass. A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent, who visited the pregnant woman and mother of four on her hospital bed on Monday, reports that the left hand of the victim was cut off from the wrist. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, King, has been arrested and charged before an Isolo Magistrates’ Court for breaking into the headquarters of King’s church and stealing some of its property. The prosecutor, Oje Uwagbale, told the court that Jack, who was a strong member of the church but stopped after Rev. King was arrested and condemned to death for murder, gained access into the church in Ajao Estate, Lagos after Sunday service and secretly went to the music section to steal two mixers worth N850,000, belonging to the church. Police nabs 51-year-old man for allegedly having sex with 14 year old boy The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 51-year-old man, Daniel Emeka for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old boy, Ndubuisi in a hotel in Aba area of the state. Man rapes 12 year old boy to death A 12-year-old boy, identified as Aminu, has died after he was allegedly sexually abused by one Abubakar, a tea seller in Ngwayanma, in the Kontagora area of Niger State. Abubakar abducted Aminu from his parents’ in March, held him hostage in his apartment and allegedly had anal sex with the boy for two weeks, until the victim fell ill. A neighbour raised the alarm and reported the case to the police at the Kontagora division. Abubakar was arrested, but the boy later died in the hospital he was admitted. Kogi herbalist to die by hanging for killing 2 brothers A herbal medicine practitioner and ritualist, Ibrahim Mohammed, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing two brothers in Koton-Karfe area of Kogi State.
