IS THIS THE MAN WITH THE WORST JOB WORLD WIDE?SEE PHOTOS

Image
Diving down into a hole of sludge with his bare hands, spare a thought for this poor sewer cleaner in Bangladesh who has one of the world’s least desirable jobs. The man, who is an employee of the Dhaka City Corporation, has to unblock the city’s sewer lines without any proper safety equipment. He often has to go dig around underground with only a long stick to help him and with no mask to protect him from the poisonous fumes the sewage emits. Scooping out liquid filth with his bare hands, the hardy worker has the thankless task of clawing out blockages in the bustling Bangladeshi capital. Dhaka has a population in excess of 14 million and has recently been hit by major floods caused by heavy rains and an insufficient storm drainage system. Despite the alarming rise in the number of deaths of manhole workers, cleaners are still not supplied with sufficient equipment and regularly have to enter the dirty sludge topless. More Photos:

Image
A key witness who came forward more than a decade after a teenage dad-to-be was murdered is expected to give evidence in the trial of two men accused of killing him. Paul Croft, 19, died in hospital a week after he was found seriously injured in an alleyway in Salford in 2005. Now James Wilde, who would have been 16 at the time of events, and Paul O’Neill, 23 at the time, both deny murder in a Manchester Crown Court trial where it is alleged Paul was attacked with a golf club and a baseball bat. A woman who claims to have information about the case is expected to give evidence to the jury this afternoon. The prosecution say the woman, who will testify via videolink, overheard conversations pointing to the defendant's guilt, but was 'frightened' to provide information at the time of the killing. Paul was attacked in a ginnell known as the Black Path next to the Lord Nelson pub in Pendlebury, on March 24, 2005. But despite an extensive investigation no charges ...

RACE ISSUES LOOM OVER SHOOTING OF TEENAGER BY POLICE OFFICER

Image
The Dallas suburb where a white police officer shot and killed a black teenager as he left a party has a population that's just 20 percent white but a police department that's 80 percent white. Balch Springs now confronts the same issues of race and law enforcement as Ferguson, Missouri, Baltimore and other cities that have been thrust into the spotlight because of police killings of African-Americans. Officer Roy Oliver was fired three days after the Saturday night shooting. But lawyers for 15-year-old Jordan Edwards' family said Wednesday that the city must answer for more than Oliver, including a racial slur allegedly yelled at one of Edwards' brothers moments after the shooting. The family also wants the officer to be charged with a crime. Edwards , his two brothers and two other teenagers were driving away from an unruly house party when the officer opened fire on their vehicle with a rifle.
