The Imo State Police Command has paraded five suspects in connection with the murder of Reverend Father Cyriacus Onunkwo. This comes four days after the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Chris Ezike, confirmed the kidnap and subsequent killing of the priest.  Onunkwo was murdered after he was reportedly snatched from his vehicle by gunmen on Friday last week in Orlu Local Government Area of the state. On September 3, Ezike said the remains of the clergyman was discovered in a bush the following day following a manhunt. Details later....

Some men physically assaulted a woman wearing Hijab after she was caught with 50 master keys. The men alleged that the woman accused of being a thief was fond of using the master keys to steal from innocent people when they are not at home. The sad incident happened in Kaduna state. The unnamed woman was beaten mercilessly as the men used a big stick to flog the hell out of her. Watch video below:

PRESIDENT OF BURKINA FASO'S COMMUNICATION COUNCIL DETAINED,CHARGED WITH FINANCIAL CRIMES

The president of the Higher Council of Communication (CSC) in Burkina Faso, Nathalie Some, has been detained and charged with a range of financial crimes, a legal source said Thursday. Prosecutor Maiza Sereme in Ouagadougou called for an investigation into "the embezzlement of public funds, fraud, corruption, overcharging, money laundering and nepotism," the source , asking not to be named. Arrested on Wednesday night, Some was placed in detention, along with her administrative and financial director Sere Souleymane, while fellow suspects were charged, the source said. The charges arise from the delivery to the state prosecution service of a report by the country's top anti-corruption authority, which probed the management of funds allocated to the CSC to cover elections in 2015, as part of its mandate to regulate broadcast media. COURT GRANTS DSS PERMISSION TO DETAIN TERROR SUSPECT FOR 45 DAYS

The Federal high Court, Abuja, on Thursday granted permission to the Department of State Service (DSS) to detain one Adamu Mohammed for 45 days pending conclusion of investigation. Mohammed is being investigated for carrying out acts of terrorism by divulging sensitive information to members of Boko Haram. Justice B.O. Quadri gave the order following an ex-parte application filed by the DSS for an order to remand the suspect for 90 days pending conclusion of investigation. Quadri reduced the 90 days to 45 days, saying that the law only allowed two months within which a suspect could be detained while investigations were ongoing. The judge, however, added that the number of days could be reviewed upward where the court deemed it necessary. "The applicant shall provide the court with an update of the investigation before the expiration of the 45 days; consequent upon such an update, the court might review the remand order upward where necessary." Man fights armed robber for stealing girlfriend's phone, collects gun A suspected armed robber, Michael David, has been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State, after he robbed a lady, identified simply as Kate, of her phone. PUNCH Metro gathered that 22-year-old David and two other members of his gang, while armed with a locally-made double-barrelled pistol, attacked Kate and her boyfriend, one Desmond, on Close 26, Satellite Town, Ijegun, around 10pm. They were said to have taken Kate's mobile phone and threatened to shoot the couple dead if they resisted. The gang had allegedly mounted a waiting motorcycle and were about speeding off when Desmond summoned courage and attacked the men. He was said to have succeeded in pulling down David, as his girlfriend called for help. Attempts by the suspect to shoot the victim failed, as the gun reportedly jammed. 4 BANK STAFF NABBED IN CONNECTION WITH BULLION VAN ATTACK/ARMED ROBBERY

The Delta Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four staff of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), Asaba main branch, following last Tuesday's robbery attack on a bullion van along the Benin-Asaba road. The command's Spokesperson, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, said this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Asaba. Aniamaka said that the arrest of the bank workers followed investigation into the bullion van attack which left a policeman fatally wounded and the sum of N25 million carted away. "The command has arrested one Amina Oyewole, the Cash Management Officer of UBA Branch 1 Asaba, the Chief Security Officer as well as two drivers. L agos— A 27-year-old man, Salami Oluwatobi, who allegedly impersonated Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos and defrauded a woman of N15 million, under the disguise of helping her secure a slot at the Lekki Free Airport Investment, was, yesterday, arraigned before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate's court, Lagos. The defendant is facing a three count charge of conspiracy, impersonation and fraud preferred against him by the Police. The prosecutor, Inspector Adebayo Oladede, told the court that the defendant, and others still at large, committed the offence sometime in August 2016, at 8, Olokonla Street, along Ajah, in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos. Naira Oladede also alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained N15 million from one Moriselade Ajoke, under the pretence of assisting her to secure a slot in the proposed Lekki Free Airport Investment. KOGI WORKERS GIVE GOVT 7 DAYS ULTIMATUM OVER HALF SALARY POLICY

L OKOJA— Organised labour in Kogi State has given the state government a seven-day ultimatum over its decision to pay 50 percent salary to workers and 40 percent to local government staff across the state. Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State The workers, after a meeting presided over by the state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Onuh Edoka, and his Trade Union Congress, TUC, counterpart, Ranti Ojo, restated their resolve to reject the half salary policy of government. Edoka said: "If the N2.6 billion being quoted now by government as July wage bill is sacrosanct, and if the monthly allocation that accrued to the state from the federation account without the IGR shared in the month of August stands at N2.6 billion as presented to organised labour, we wish to ask why this percentage of salary?"

Johannesburg – The Nigerian mission in South Africa says it has protested the killing of Nigerians to the government of that country. The two Nigerians were recently killed by the South African police for allegedly being in possession of drugs. On Aug. 30, Kingsley Ikeri, 27, a native of Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo, was allegedly killed by the police at Vryheid town, in Kwazulu Natal Province while being interrogated for being in possession of drugs. HOW SENIOR MILITARY OFFICERS AND JTF OFFICERS ESCAPED DEATH IN CROSS RIVER STATE

The Commander , Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe (ODS), Rear Admiral Suleiman Apochi, and other top military officers have escaped drowning in the rivers of Ikang, Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State. Apochi and other sector commanders of ODS cheated death when they fell into the Ikang River according to a statement signed by the Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre (JMCC), Maj. Ibrahim Abdullahi. But some of them were said to have sustained minor injuries and were given medical treatment. The statement named others who fell into the river as the Commander, Nigerian Naval Ship (NNS) Victory, Commodore Sali Jubrin, ODS sector commanders, Commander Sector 4 and other senior officers and soldiers. It was gathered that the officers found themselves in the river when the Ikang jetty collapsed at about 10am on Tuesday.
