JAPANESE PRINCESS MAKO GIVES UP ROYAL STATUS TO MARRY COMMONER,HOW LOVELY

Image
Japanese Princess Mako, the eldest granddaughter of Emperor Akihito, will give up her royal status to marry a former classmate who once worked as a "Prince of the Sea" to promote tourism. Japanese media reported the union would stoke debate on the ever-shrinking royal family since the princess must become a commoner after she marries. The country's cabinet is expected to approve a bill on Friday to allow Akihito, 83, to step down, the first abdication by a Japanese emperor in nearly two centuries, after he said last August he feared age would make it hard to fulfil his duties. But the legislation will make no reference to the controversial topics of whether to revise a males-only succession law or to allow women to stay in the imperial family after marriage, a move conservatives fear would be a first step to letting women inherit the throne. Asked about the shortage in royals, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a news conference on Wednesday: "The

"TRUMP IN IMPEACHMENT TERRITORY" NIXON,REAGAN AND CLINTON FORMER ADVISER

TRUMP AND COMEY Donald Trump's personal request that the FBI drop its investigation into disgraced national security adviser Michael Flynn, if true, could see the President's fledgling administration already entering "impeachment territory". That's according to a former adviser to three presidents, two of whom - Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton - faced impeachment proceedings. Mr Trump's reported comments to then-FBI chief James Comey represent the most concerning conduct yet by the 45th president, according to David Gergen. It comes after a tumultuous week in which Mr Trump admitted he fired Mr Comey at least partially because of the investigation into his team's links to Russia, and after the President passed apparently classified secrets to senior Russian officials. Accoridng to notes Mr Comey made after a February meeting with Mr Trump, the President told him: “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a g

Lawyer Zannah Mustapha Some of The released Chibok schoolgirls The story of the release of 82 Chibok schoolgirls will not be complete without mentioning the lawyer who negotiated the release of the girls from Boko Haram captivity. Novelist and writer Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani profiles the lawyer, Zannah Mustapha, who brokered the release of 82 women captured by Nigeria’s militant Islamist group Boko Haram. When 57-year-old Zannah Mustapha arrived for the handover of the 82 Chibok girls freed from Boko Haram after three years in captivity, a militant read out the girls’ names from a list. One by one, the abducted schoolgirls, now women, lined up along the outskirts of a forest near Kumshe town, on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. Each of them was covered from head to ankle in a dark-coloured hijab. “I went ahead of the Red Cross. They [the militants] brought the girls to me,” said Mr Mustapha, the lawyer from Borno state in north-east Nigeria. He has been mediating bet

The 7 year olds mother says this photo was taken after police put the boy in handcuffs. The mother of a 7-year-old child is demanding answers after her son was allegedly handcuffed at school and taken to a mental health facility in Texas. “My son is a special-needs child, and he requires those special needs,” the boy’s mother, April Obis, told WBRC Fox 6 News. According to Obis, her son has attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which can result in disruptive behavior. A trained counselor at Gabe P. Allen Charter School in Dallas is typically available to help her son cope when an issue arises. That counselor, Obis said, was not available on May 9, when her son was removed from class after he allegedly banged his head against a wall. Instead, officers with the Dallas Independent School District Police Department allegedly subdued the boy. Obis told Dallas-Fort Worth’s NBC 5 News that when school officials notified her that there was an issue, she went directly to t

An Islamic court in Indonesia on Wednesday, sentenced two men to 85 lashes of the cane for having sex together. The public caning handed down by a panel of judges is the first time laws against homosexuality, introduced in the province in 2014, have been used. Judges in the conservative province of Aceh, however, ignored pleas human rights groups for clemency. The sentence was more severe than the 80 lashes requested by the prosecutor. “The defendants are proven to have committed sodomy and are found guilty,’’ the Presiding Judge, Khairil Jamal, said in a statement. However, the two men had opted to represent themselves in court and said they would not appeal the verdict. Aceh is the only province in Muslim-majority Indonesia that criminalises same-sex relations and that uses Sharia as its legal code in addition to the national criminal code. Human Rights Watch (HRW) has called on Indonesia to release the men, detained in March after vigilantes reported them to religio

South Sudanese rebels Gov. David Moses of Yei River State on Wednesday confirmed that rebels attacked the South Sudanese town of Yei, killing at least four government soldiers. Moses told Reuters that rebel forces in the country’s three-year-old civil war said the death count was higher and told civilians to leave the southwest town close to the border with Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. He said: “What the rebels are doing here is destruction and creating a situation where civilians suffer.” South Sudan broke away from Sudan in 2011 then plunged into civil war two years later after President Salva Kiir, from the Dinka ethnic group, sacked his deputy and long-time rival Riek Machar, a Nuer. Britain has said parts of the violence amount to genocide. Lokonga said the rebels attack on the town about 130 km southwest of the

KILLER EXECUTED IN THE US BY LETHAL INJECTION WANTED TO DIE BY FIRING SQUAD

Ledford,45, was put to death on Wed for the 1992 robbery and killing of a doctor. ATLANTA (Reuters) - Georgia executed a convicted robber and murderer by lethal injection early on Wednesday after U.S. courts rejected his appeal to be killed by a firing squad. J.W. Ledford had spent about a quarter of a century on death row after he was found guilty of cutting the throat of a 73-year-old doctor during a robbery in 1992. His lawyers had argued he wanted to be executed by firing squad because a drug he took for nerve pain would lead to an “excruciating death” under Georgia’s lethal injection protocol. The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday denied Ledford’s appeal after lawyers for Georgia called it a delaying tactic that should be rejected for relying on speculative allegations. Ledford’s attorneys had said that years of taking a drug for nerve pain changed his brain chemistry, which meant the state’s lethal drug, pentobarbital, would not reliably render him unconsci
