TROUBLE IN LAGOS AS HAUSA MAN KILLS YORUBA CUSTOMER

Chaos struck in the Igando area of Lagos State on Monday after a 40-year-old Hausa trader, Ibrahim Adamu, allegedly killed a 30-year-old bus driver Lekan Adeleke,the deceased reportedly bought noodles worth N 230 from the suspect’s son on Sunday night and had paid N 200 and promised to pay the balance of N 30 the following day.   

This did not go down well with the boy who reported to his father, Adamu, who became angry and attacked Adeleke yesterday been Monday.  Adeleke sensing danger ran away but the suspect caught up with him and hit him in the head with a plank as he tried to jump a gutter but fell and hit his head against the edge of the gutter and became unconscious.Adamu then tried to revive him and took Adeleke into his kiosk and poured water on his head.

In the process a large number of residents stormed the place and on sighting them he abandoned his victim and ran away as his son also ran off too on the father's instruction.The incident which happened on Mojeed Sanni Street caused chaos in the area as some residents and friends of the deceased made a bonfire on the road,they threatened to avenge the killing and consequently chased away Hausa traders in the community.
The men who caught Adamu were about carrying out jungle justice on him when policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer, Olatunji Ajimuda of the Igando division stormed the area saving Adamu who's kiosk was destroyed and set ablaze,Adeleke who was rushed to the hospital by some the men was said to have died at 12 noon.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO,SP Dolapo Badmos said investigations were still on going,saying “It was a case of murder. One Adamu used a plank to hit a bus driver,Adeleke on the head which led to his death and the police team took Adeleke’s corpse to a mortuary where they paid N15000 for the corpse to be deposited in the Mainland General Hospital morgue for autopsy and we have intensified patrol in the area as normalcy has been restored,”
