Why Obasanjo forcefully retired me from police – Oba Akiolu

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has claimed that former president Olusegun Obasanjo forcefully retired him from the Nigerian Police Force IN 2002, so the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could win the 2003 elections in Lagos State.
He claimed that Atiku Abubakar and Lawal Daura convinced Obasanjo to remove him, because the Police Service Commission (PSC) “is a toothless bull-dog.”
He said in part: “Atiku, Daura and others sat down and advised President Obasanjo that if he wanted to win Lagos in 2003, I should be removed. It was written on paper.”
The monarch said Obasanjo “did not know anything about it. He had to send for the Inspector-General of Police (IG) because the then Chief of Staff challenged the plan to retire me.
“For someone to sit at the PSC and determine who retires from the police is unfair. This is not how to run a very efficient and effective police force.”

An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. The suspect confessed that she hid the phone which she bought for her boyfriend identified as Ganiyu Ajibode, in the cooler of soup from the Prisons officials. Balogun said she was a divorcee with two children before she met Ganiyu about two years back. The suspect who said she lived in Fagba, Iju-Saga in Lagos, said she had never visited the Prison since her boyfriend was remanded for armed robbery six months ago. In an alleged ecstasy to impress their paymaster, a team of police operatives, on Sunday, shot dead one Elvis Ovie and injured another, Onome Eko, during a party in Warri, Delta State. Operatives, three of whom are now in police detention, were said to have been in a shooting spree to impress an alleged internet fraudster popularly called 'yahoo yahoo boys' for whom they were providing security. *Police were called to Piccadilly bus station after a suitcase was found on the 192 bus and a man reportedly ran from the scene A suitcase has been left on a bus at Piccadilly bus station sparking a security alert. Police were called to Portland Street after the suitcase was found on the 192 bus at 11.35am. Greater Manchester Police officers are on their way to the scene to investigate. A Minna Chief Magistrates’ Court has granted bail to a housewife, Eucharia Mba, who was earlier apprehended by the police for allegedly selling her four-month-old baby for N605,000. Mba was arrested alongside Bright Ahuruezeanya of Chanchaga area of Minna and one Peter Ani. The defendants are facing three counts bordering on criminal conspiracy, buying and selling of a minor. The offence contravened sections 79 and 278 of the Penal Code Law. According to the police First Information Report, one Mr. John of Mechanic Junction in Chanchaga, had sometime in September, 2017 reported to the police that Amaka Bright of the same address with Bright Ahuruezeanya conspired with his wife Eucharia and sold his four-month-old baby boy. It was alleged that Eucharia and the other two accused persons left for Enugu State where they sold the baby to one Mr. Ani for N605,000.
