Why Obasanjo forcefully retired me from police – Oba Akiolu

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has claimed that former president Olusegun Obasanjo forcefully retired him from the Nigerian Police Force IN 2002, so the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could win the 2003 elections in Lagos State.
He claimed that Atiku Abubakar and Lawal Daura convinced Obasanjo to remove him, because the Police Service Commission (PSC) “is a toothless bull-dog.”
He said in part: “Atiku, Daura and others sat down and advised President Obasanjo that if he wanted to win Lagos in 2003, I should be removed. It was written on paper.”
The monarch said Obasanjo “did not know anything about it. He had to send for the Inspector-General of Police (IG) because the then Chief of Staff challenged the plan to retire me.
“For someone to sit at the PSC and determine who retires from the police is unfair. This is not how to run a very efficient and effective police force.”

Egypt on Thursday blocked 21 websites, including Qatari news network Al Jazeera and Islamist-affiliated platforms, following in the footsteps of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Among those blocked since Wednesday evening is the website of the now-banned Muslim Brotherhood, Ikhwan Online, according to a report in the privately owned Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper. All websites blocked contain material that “support terrorism and extremism as well as publish lies,” a security source was quoted as saying. The Arabic edition of the Huffington Post was blocked, although the English-language version was accessible. The independent Cairo-based Mada Masr was another site blocked. Police say 43-year-old Trinidad Bueno-Sanchez of North Chicago, a married man with a 6-year-old child, did everything right when trying to sell his cellphone. Using OfferUp, he found a potential buyer who expressed interest in purchasing his iPhone 6 for $450, and agreed to meet them in the parking lot of a Meijer store in Round Lake Beach the evening of April 24.
