Bank robbery: Robbers kill police sergeant, cart away millions of naira

A Police Sergeant was shot dead yesterday 30th January when gunmen attacked a customer at a new generation bank along Aba Road,Port Harcourt Rivers State while another person suspected to be the owner of the snatched money was feared killed  following heavy shootout at the bank.
An eyewitness  said the gunmen who drove into the bank  premises in a Tayota Corolla car had laid ambush for a customer who had gone to the bank to withdraw money,he said as soon as the customer emerged from the bank, after making his withdrawals,the gunmen pounced on him opening fire on the vehicle.
The eyewitness stated that a bag containing cash was snatched and taken away by the armed robbers.He said: “I was standing at the bus stop waiting for a taxi to Bori camp when I heard a gun shot and at that point everybody started running so I had to run towards Rumukwurushi end  because the gun shot was very severe.“When the dust settled, most of us ran towards the bank and we saw a vehicle suspected to belong to the customer. The vehicle’s interior was slashed with blood, but we did not see anybody. The victims may have been evacuated. But I cannot confirm whether they were killed in the attack.”
In a swift reaction,the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),Omoni Nnamdi a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said policemen foiled a bank robbery,he confirmed that there was serious gun battle between policemen and the robbers,  adding that a police personnel died in the incident and that the gunmen escaped with bullet injuries but that normalcy was later restored in the area and urged members of the public to go about their normal business peacefully.

EFCC re-arraigns 3 directors for allegedly stealing over N100 million MARCH 9th, 2017 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has re-arraigned three directors, Gregory Eriyanremu, Frank Ugen and Harriman Isa Oyofo before Justice Uloho of the Delta State High Court sitting in Warri for allegedly converting over N100million meant for payments of contractors who executed contract job for Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, to personal use at different times. A holidaymaker recently got home from France to find a 22-year-old Ethiopian illegal immigrant hiding in the boot of his Nissan. After weeks of intensive manhunt, the Lagos state police command has arrested one Ismaila Adeyemi, 49, the suspected mastermind and killer of Hector Jobateh (the 2007 winner of Gulder Ultimate search) who was traced and shot dead at his residence at New Oko-Oba in Agege, Lagos State. The suspect who was arrested at gas line Ominiyi in Ijoko area of Ogun state, confessed to the crime and other numerous crimes, while other members of his gang have been arrested.
