Rivers state commissioner of police is dead
Rivers state commissioner of police Francis Bolaji Odesanya died outside Nigeria's shores.
The Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr. Francis Bolaji Odesanya has died in an Indian hospital after an assumed kidney failure.
He was the 37th Rivers State Commissioner of Police, having succeeded Mr. Foluso Adebanjo on July 12, 2016.
Odesanya joined the force on February 2, 1986, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and rose through the ranks to his current position of Commissioner of Police.

Raleigh Police A North Carolina man was told he could face the death penalty on Tuesday for the murder of his wife after he told a 911 dispatcher he may have killed her after drinking too much cold medicine. "I had a dream and then I turn on the lights and she's dead on the floor," suspect Matthew Phelps, 28, said during a nearly seven-minute 911 call early Friday morning. "I have blood all over me and there's a bloody knife on the bed. And I think I did it," he said in the call, which was released by the Raleigh Police Department. An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. The suspect confessed that she hid the phone which she bought for her boyfriend identified as Ganiyu Ajibode, in the cooler of soup from the Prisons officials. Balogun said she was a divorcee with two children before she met Ganiyu about two years back. The suspect who said she lived in Fagba, Iju-Saga in Lagos, said she had never visited the Prison since her boyfriend was remanded for armed robbery six months ago. A Minna Chief Magistrates’ Court has granted bail to a housewife, Eucharia Mba, who was earlier apprehended by the police for allegedly selling her four-month-old baby for N605,000. Mba was arrested alongside Bright Ahuruezeanya of Chanchaga area of Minna and one Peter Ani. The defendants are facing three counts bordering on criminal conspiracy, buying and selling of a minor. The offence contravened sections 79 and 278 of the Penal Code Law. According to the police First Information Report, one Mr. John of Mechanic Junction in Chanchaga, had sometime in September, 2017 reported to the police that Amaka Bright of the same address with Bright Ahuruezeanya conspired with his wife Eucharia and sold his four-month-old baby boy. It was alleged that Eucharia and the other two accused persons left for Enugu State where they sold the baby to one Mr. Ani for N605,000.
