The operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command on Monday last week nabbed two teenagers fleeing the Abuja abodes of their parents and re-united them with the parents on Friday. The teenagers, Chidubem Amaechi, 13 and Chinedu Onyebuchi, 13 were apprehended by the RRS operatives of Monday morning after alighting from an Abuja bus at Ojodu Berger, Lagos. They were sighted wandering before being invited for questioning. The children had lied to the officers during interrogations that they were kidnapped and blindfolded before they were driven to Lagos by their abductors. They added that they escaped from their abductors while they were sleeping under the bridge before Ogun –Lagos long bridge. The palace of the traditional ruler of Obollo autonomous community, Edwin Mbaeyi, in Isiala Mbano Local Government of Imo state has been set ablaze by angry youths. Punch reports that an eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Collins, said that the palace was burnt over the refusal of the monarch to coronate one Chijioke Njokuocha as the traditional prime minister of the community after the death of his father, Samuel Njokuocha. According to the source, the monarch’s preference for one Jasper Nwachukwu angered the youths who had gathered to witness the coronation of Chief Njokuocha. On getting close he saw a Corper on handcuffs, and some men being questioned. Here's the story of what happened as told by the Corper: She boarded a taxi to her PPA, on reaching her destination she gave the driver One thousand naira (N1000) only for the driver to accuse her of paying with a counterfeit naira note. She denied it, but one of the passenger then claimed to be a Police Officer concurred with the driver. The man brought out handcuffs and cuffed the Corper, claiming they are taking her to police station. EFCC ARRAIGNS SAN,EX MINISTER ON MONEY LAUNDERING CHARGES

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday arraigned a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mohammed Dele Belgore at the Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged money laundering. Himself and a former minister of National Planning Prof Abubakar Suleiman before Justice Mohammed Aikawa were arraigned on a five-count charge. EFCC accused them of conspiring to directly take possession of the N450million, which they reasonably ought to have known forms part of the proceeds of an unlawful act. The commission said they committed the alleged offense on March 27, 2015, contrary to Section 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012. In the second count, EFCC said they "directly took possession of the sum." In the third count, the defendants were accused of conspiring to make cash payment of N450million, which "exceeded the amount authorized by law without going through financial institution." An escaped inmate convicted of the attempted murder of a Delaware police officer was captured on Wednesday, ending a five-day manhunt that involved the U.S. Marshals Service and at least six other law enforcement teams, police said. Police found David Watson, 28, hiding in a small drainage pipe in a wooded area of Jessup, Maryland, near the hospital he was being transported to when he escaped from custody last Friday, according to the Howard County Police Department. "Although the pipe had been confirmed empty earlier in the day, officers with night vision equipment rechecked the area after dark," the department said late Wednesday. "They found Watson laying inside, attempting to hide." Watson surrendered and was taken into custody at around 10 p.m., police said.
