100 OFFICERS RAID HOMES IN CONNECTION TO A CAR LEASING SCAM,5 MEN ARRESTED

Five men have been arrested after more than 100 police took part in dawn raids to disrupt a high value car leasing scam.

 Officers from Cheshire Constabulary and Greater Manchester Police targeted suspected criminals in eight properties across Oldham , Levenshulme and Stockport .

 The men, aged between 28 and 58-years-old, remain in police custody.

 It follows an investigation into an organised crime gang who are thought to have been fraudulently leasing high value cars, which are transported overseas and then never seen again.

 Det Sgt Brian Faint, of Cheshire Constabulary’s Economic Crime Unit, said: “Organised crime groups bring misery and pain to our communities.

 “Fraud is not a victimless crime and today’s operation was a great success. It reinforces our commitment to targeting those who believe they can commit these offences and get away with it.

 “We will continue to track down anyone believed to be involved in these offences to ensure we protect our communities and local businesses.”

An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. In an alleged ecstasy to impress their paymaster, a team of police operatives, on Sunday, shot dead one Elvis Ovie and injured another, Onome Eko, during a party in Warri, Delta State. Operatives, three of whom are now in police detention, were said to have been in a shooting spree to impress an alleged internet fraudster popularly called 'yahoo yahoo boys' for whom they were providing security. It was gathered that the gun-wielding cops were led by one Insp. Imana Samuel, a Sergeant and a corporal from the Warri Area Command. Two Fulani herdsmen, Umar and Musa Ali, who are brothers, have been arrested by men of the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at Tudun Lambaga in the Eggon Hills area, Eggon Local Government Area of the state. The victim, simply identified as Esther, was reportedly ambushed and assaulted by the suspects at a secluded part of the road. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Nassarawa, DSP Kennedy Idirisu, Umar and Musa had been apprehended following a complaint by Esther’s parents.
