GROUP GIVES BUHARI THREE WEEKS TO RETURN TO NIGERIA

File: President Buhari has been in London on medical leave for over three months

Anti-Buhari protesters #ResumeOrResign movement has said it would take President Muhammadu Buhari  to court should he fail to return to Nigeria within 21 days.

The group vowed in a statement that it would go to court to seek an order of mandamus to compel the Federal Executive Council to set up a committee to appraise the health of the president.

London vigil

It further announced that during this time, it will hold its sit-out at the Freedom Park, Ojota, between 9-10a.m each day.

A vigil will also be held in front of the Abuja House in London on Friday, August 18, commencing at 1700hrs.

The statement was signed by Charles Oputa, Leader, #ResumeOrResign Movement, for Our Mumu Don Do Movement; Deji Adeyanju Co-Convener, #ResumeOrResign, for Concerned Nigerians; and Ariyo-Dare Atoye, Co-Convener, #ResumeOrResign, for Coalition in Defence of Nigerian Democracy and Constitution (CDNDC).

President Buhari has been out of the country for over hundred days on medical leave.

In an alleged ecstasy to impress their paymaster, a team of police operatives, on Sunday, shot dead one Elvis Ovie and injured another, Onome Eko, during a party in Warri, Delta State. Operatives, three of whom are now in police detention, were said to have been in a shooting spree to impress an alleged internet fraudster popularly called 'yahoo yahoo boys' for whom they were providing security. ONIGBESE GOVERNOR OF KOGI MOVES TO END STRIKE IN STATE UNIVERSITY

Governor  Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has appealed to members of the state university's academic staff union to call off their strike.(Which would be a big mistake if they comply) Bello, who visited the University at Ayingba on Tuesday, pledged to pay all the salary arrears of lecturers and non-academic staff of the institution this month. He said the payment would cover those on contract and study leave, as well as those employed in 2015. The hotel had reported them and police busted them in their room today, with their laptops.  The hotel said they claim to be musicians but the police is claiming that they are "Yahoo boys," after busting them with four laptops. It was gathered that they have been staying at the hotel for six months without paying.

NIGERIAN SECURITY AGENTS FOIL ISIS/BOKO HARAM PLOT TO BOMB UK AND US EMBASIES

Nigerian security forces say they have foiled a plot by ISIS-linked Boko Haram militants to bomb the British High Commission and US Embassy in the capital Abuja. The Department of State Services announced that it had arrested five suspects who were planning attacks. A DSS official said a suspected Boko Haram member who was arrested on March 22, in north-eastern Yobe state, confessed details of the plot. That led to the arrests of the five plotters, who were based in Benue State, in the country's middle belt, and the Federal Capital Territory, on March 25 and 26. 30 NEW ILLEGAL REFINERIES FOUND IN RIVERS STATE

Victor Choji, the Executive Officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, Port Harcourt, said this during the destruction of one of the illegal refineries on Thursday. He said all the refineries were discovered in Asari Toru Local Government area of Rivers, with 40 huge metallic storage tanks . The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some of the storage tanks were filled with petroleum products suspected to be diesel and crude oil. Choji noted that the discovery was in continuation of the current mop-up of illegal refineries and illicit bunkering of petroleum products by crude oil thieves.
