100 OFFICERS RAID HOMES IN CONNECTION TO A CAR LEASING SCAM,5 MEN ARRESTED

Five men have been arrested after more than 100 police took part in dawn raids to disrupt a high value car leasing scam.

 Officers from Cheshire Constabulary and Greater Manchester Police targeted suspected criminals in eight properties across Oldham , Levenshulme and Stockport .

 The men, aged between 28 and 58-years-old, remain in police custody.

 It follows an investigation into an organised crime gang who are thought to have been fraudulently leasing high value cars, which are transported overseas and then never seen again.

 Det Sgt Brian Faint, of Cheshire Constabulary’s Economic Crime Unit, said: “Organised crime groups bring misery and pain to our communities.

 “Fraud is not a victimless crime and today’s operation was a great success. It reinforces our commitment to targeting those who believe they can commit these offences and get away with it.

 “We will continue to track down anyone believed to be involved in these offences to ensure we protect our communities and local businesses.”

According to CBS affiliate WJHL, Scott Edmisten was “unsteady” and “very angry” when authorities pulled him over during a traffic stop this week. On Tuesday, WREG reported Edmisten was driving on a suspended license when he was caught going 55 mph in a 30 mph zone. He allegedly floored it, reaching speeds of 80 mph before finally coming to a stop and taken into custody. An inventory of his vehicle recovered a loaded .357 magnum, a loaded .45 semi auto, a full auto AR rifle in .223 caliber, a full auto AR rifle in .308 caliber, over 900 rounds of ammunition, a mask and black fatigues. Benue State Police Command has busted two kidnap syndicate of 8 including a Gang of 4 allegedly led by a woman believed to be an associate of the wanted militant leader, Terwase Agwaza, aka Gana, who a week ago abducted a businessman. The police operation also led to the arrest of three women whose responsibilities were to provide food for the victims, who was rescued alive. The businessman was kidnapped alongside his son, who was later released to source N20 million as ransom for his father.  The state's Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama, said: "During investigations, we discovered that the lady, who was arrested had the responsibility of pencilling down those to be kidnapped and those to be killed by the gang. They are all associates of Gana, the wanted militant leader. Also arrested, after reliable information, is one Victor Ayanngor, who conspired with Ordue Abraham, Kelvin Dankor and Emmanuel Terver to kidnap his girlfriend and collect N200,000 ransom."
