MOB JUSTICE,4 LYNCHED TO DEATH ON SUSPICION OF KIDNAPPING

The Taraba state Police Command has confirmed the killing of four suspected kidnappers by a mob at Tella in Gassol Local Government area of the state.

Spokesman of the command, David Misal, told newsmen that the fifth suspect, Salisu Zakari, who narrowly escaped the mob action, was arrested and detained in the command.

He said the mob had forcefully removed the suspects from a vigilante group at Tella and hacked them to death.

"They were arrested by a local vigilante group, but before being handed over to the police, a group of irate youths lynched them and threw their bodies into the river," the police spokesman said.

"One of the suspects escaped and was later arrested in Jalingo. He is presently in our custody."

Misal however said Zakari, in a confessional statement, claimed that the syndicate went to Tella for armed robbery not kidnapping, before they ran out of luck.

Misal said the matter is under investigation, adding that anyone involved in it would be prosecuted.

Benue State Police Command has busted two kidnap syndicate of 8 including a Gang of 4 allegedly led by a woman believed to be an associate of the wanted militant leader, Terwase Agwaza, aka Gana, who a week ago abducted a businessman. The police operation also led to the arrest of three women whose responsibilities were to provide food for the victims, who was rescued alive. Japanese media outfit, NHK, has apologized to the parents of deceased Japanese reporter, Miwa Sado, who died of heart failure after reportedly working for 159 hours of overtime in a month. Sado, who had been covering political news in Tokyo was found dead in her bed in July 2013, reportedly clutching her mobile phone. "The chairman met the parents at their home in the morning and apologised," an NHK spokesman told AFP. A government inquest a year after her death ruled that it was linked to excessive overtime. A Jehovah's Witness convention in Angola was attacked with toxic gas on Friday, causing over 400 people to faint. A local news source, Portal de Angola, reported on Saturday that three young men were detained after the attack. According to the report, some 7,000 worshippers were at a venue on the outskirts of Luanda for the weekend-long convention. Forty-three victims were rushed to the hospital, but no deaths have been reported. A witness, Abraham Kituxi, told Portal de Angola that his sister-in-law was one of the first to collapse.
