RICHEST AFRICAN SAYS HE HAS NO PLANS TO RUN FOR POLITICAL OFFICE

Billionaire entrepreneur Aliko Dangote has ruled out the possibility of running for the office of the Nigerian president in 2019 or after.

He said he is not a political animal as he is more comfortable in the business world where he is a colossus.

This is contained in an issue of the Bloomberg Markets Magazine.

He said: "No, I'm not interested in active politics. There's quite a lot we can do from the business side. I enjoy a lot of what I am doing and I also love my freedom and I don't have too much.

"The little (freedom) I have, politics would take away. I am not ready to give that up. There are businessmen who are interested in politics. I'm not one of them.

"Well, in Africa, yes, I do think you need politicians. But at the same time, we cannot get things right unless there is good cooperation between politicians and businessmen. It's a win-win. When you look at it today, in Nigeria, over 85 percent of the GDP is from the private sector."

Two Seattle police officers were shot Thursday while responding to a robbery at a 7-Eleven, according to the city's police department. The two officers, one male and one female, were brought to the Harborview Medical Center. The hospital tweeted that the male officer was upgraded to serious but stable condition, and that the female officer remained in satisfactory condition. Tragedy as Mechanic in Lagos Kills Sales Boy in Broad Daylight 10/02/2017 The police in Lagos State have launched a manhunt for a mechanic, Fatai Bashiru, for allegedly killing a sales boy, Shedrach Emenike, aka Chiboy, in the Papa Ajao, Mushin area of the state. Kogi herbalist to die by hanging for killing 2 brothers A herbal medicine practitioner and ritualist, Ibrahim Mohammed, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing two brothers in Koton-Karfe area of Kogi State. He was accused of killing two brothers, Muhammed Kudu Abubakar and Umar Tanko. The herbalist was said to have administered poison on them before hitting them on the head with a pestle and then buried their corpses in a shallow grave in his compound. The accused person had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges.
