POLICE CALLED TO PICCADILLY BUS STATION AFTER BRIEFCASE WAS LEFT ON THE 192
*Police were called to Piccadilly bus station after a suitcase was found on the 192 bus and a man reportedly ran from the scene
A suitcase has been left on a bus at Piccadilly bus station sparking a security alert.
Police were called to Portland Street after the suitcase was found on the 192 bus at 11.35am.
Greater Manchester Police officers are on their way to the scene to investigate.
It's understood a man got onto the Stagecoach bus and dropped the suitcase in the middle aisle.
He then reportedly ran off the bus service, which was travelling from the city centre to Stockport.
A spokeswoman for GMP said: "We were called just after 11.35am to reports of a suitcase left on a bus.
"We were called to Portland Street. Officers will be making their way to the the scene."
SUITCASE POSED NO THREAT.
A spokeswoman for GMP has confirmed the suitcase was found to contain women's clothing.
INCIDENT OVER.
Police have confirmed that the incident has been dealt with.
No bus services have been disrupted and no roads were closed as a result.
AWAITING POLICE STATEMENT.
GMP has told the M.E.N. they have no update at present.
