Police searching for a three-year-old girl who went missing after her dad allegedly made her stand outside her home as a punishment have found a body.
Sherin Mathews has not been seen since around 3am on Saturday, October 7.
Police in Richardson, Texas, said they feared she had been abducted and issued an 'Amber Alert'.
As a massive search investigation was launched, officers arrested her father Wesley Mathews, 37, over the incident.
He allegedly told police he made Sherin stand by a tree outside their home alone when she didn't finish her milk.
When he returned 15 minutes later the child was gone.
Two weeks later, police have found a child's body less than a mile from the spot where Wesley said he told Sherin to stand.
Official identification is yet to take place, but it is sadly believed to belong to Sherin.
A cause of death is yet to be identified.
Mathews was charged with child endangerment and is out on bail pending his next court appearance.
The discovery of the child's body could lead to further charges.
Meanwhile, local child protective services removed Sherin's four-year-old sister from the home.
According to NBC News, the service has had contact with the family before.
Speaking at the time Sherin went missing, Sgt. Kevin Perlich confirmed the father did not report the child missing until five hours later, adding that it was "concerning".
Sherin suffered from developmental issues and had limited verbal communication skills.
She was last seen wearing a pink top and black pajama bottoms.
Both her mother and father are said to have separate legal representation and have stopped cooperating with police in recent days.
