TERRORIST GROUP ATTACK MILITARY BASE IN NIGERIA AHEAD OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

Scores of Boko Haram militants were killed on Friday evening during a failed attempt to attack military Barrack in Bama town of Bama local government area of Borno State.
DAILY POST learnt that the attackers engaged the military within the hours of 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., before they were repelled.

A security source told DAILY POST that the attackers burnt down one military vehicle and also killed a police officer while retreating after they were overwhelmed by the military.
“The Boko Haram elements tried to enter Bama Army barracks but they didn’t succeed; the military killed many of the terrorists,” the source hinted.
Attempt, however, to get the military to speak on the report did not yield result as the deputy director, army public relations, theatre command of the operation lafiya dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu did not pick his calls when contacted.

The Benue State government has denied the reports alleging that the consignments containing snakes intercepted by the Nigeria Customs in Calabar belongs to Governor Samuel Ortom. A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has ordered that a former Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide and another chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, Chief Olanrewaju Otiti be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the N650 million fraud allegedly collected to fund the 2015 election in the state. T wenty six year-old Alice Awuor Omito from Rongo, Migori County, Kenya, has shocked many after confessing that preparing the dead for burial is the one thing that makes her happy. The employee of Rosewood Funeral Home in Rongo said that she dropped out of nursing school after fears that she would not secure employment after school. A bloody clash between the army and police in Nigeria's restive northeastern Yobe state on Wednesday left one soldier and three police dead, a security source told AFP.  The police confirmed the fracas in the state capital of Damaturu, but did not say if there were casualties.  "The Nigeria police force is abreast of the unfortunate incident that occurred in the early hours of today 12th April, 2017 in Damaturu between the personnel of the force and that of the Nigerian army," police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said in a statement.  He said an investigation had been launched to determine "the causes of the incident and deal with the situation appropriately to prevent such occurrence in the future".  The army authorities were not immediately available for comment.
