The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has revealed that kidnapper Evans will be charged to court soon. According to Idris, the delay in Evans' prosecution is due to police investigations to track down his accomplices within and outside the country. Idris who spoke at a seminar recently said, "Evans will be charged to court very soon. This is a man who has over the years been involved in kidnapping, collecting money in millions of dollars and harassing Nigerians from different parts of the country. Dr. Ekaete Umoh, its Medical Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Minna that the victims were boys and girls aged between 12 and 15. The officer said, however, that families of victims had often hindered the prosecution of offenders. "Families of victims have often stood in the path of prosecution officials. In some cases, they refuse to appear. When they choose to appear, they withhold information that is crucial to nailing the perpetrators," she said. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Saturday raised the alarm that herdsmen from neighbouring countries had concluded plans to unleash terror on Benue Valley. Ortom, who raised the alarm at NSKT Church in Taraku, Gwer Local Government Area, during the burial of Mama Atese Rebecca, called on the Christian Association of Nigeria in the state to keep interceding. The governor, while hosting the country representative of the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees, Edward Kallon, a few weeks ago, had noted that over 1,878 Benue residents were killed while 200 persons were still missing as a result of herdsmen attacks in the last three years. Former President, Mr Goodluck Jonathan has confirmed the theft of his property from his house in Abuja. He confirmed the incident in a statement by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, following some media reports that the home was stripped bare and some of the items stolen were being sold in markets. "The house, which the former President bought from CITEC estate developers in 2004, was totally stripped bare by the thieves who stole every movable item in the house including furniture sets, beds, electronics, toilet and electrical fittings, as well as all internal doors and frames." A  14-year-old girl, Obiamaka Ngozichukwu Orakwe, was raped to death in her parents' apartment in Abule-Ado area of Lagos State by miscreants. The act was reportedly carried out by a group of miscreants, who usually hanged out in a smoking joint in the area, following the deceased's negative response to their advances. Tragedy, as gathered, occurred last Monday, while the Junior Secondary School 3 student was alone at home. The miscreants were said to have gained entry into Orakwe's apartment from the back of the house, scaling the fence. A man has been nabbed in Lagos by the police for allegedly enticing underage girls with N500 to fondle his manhood. The suspect, whose name was not given, was apprehended by some residents of Silver Crescent Estate, Oke-Afa in Isolo area of Lagos. A local government worker, Mercy Oluwafeyibunmi, has been arrested by the police and detained at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (Annex), Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos State. It was gathered that the woman, who had been in detention for two weeks, had also been admitted to the police clinic at Alagbon after falling ill.
