MONARCH HAILS KING FOR PROMOTING THE YORUBA CULTURE

A traditional ruler in Ekiti State and the Olukere of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin, has commended the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for promoting Yoruba culture in and outside Nigeria.

Obasoyin said Oba Ogunwusi has done the Yoruba nation proud with
his recent visits to the United Kingdom in attempts to promote its tradition and culture with the intention to take the race to the global reckoning as a richly endowed entity.

The Olukere also pleaded with his rival monarch and Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti,
Oba Adejimi Adu, to give peace a chance by stopping inciting the public
against him that he was not a recognised monarch contrary to the
history of the town.

The monarch lauded the state council of traditional rulers for setting
up a committee to probe his status as a monarch in the history of his town, rather than a chief priest being arrogated to him by his rival, saying the prompt presentation of the council's report would fast-track
the presentation of staff of office to him by the government.

The monarch spoke in Ado Ekiti on Saturday during the annual Olosunta festival, where he pleaded with corporate organisations to partner with the town to add glamour to the annual festival and launch it to national stardom.

EFCC UNCOVERS N13 BILLION CASH IN LOCAL AND FOREIGN CURRENCIES IN LAGOS APARTMENT

The whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government appears to be paying off as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday announced that it uncovered foreign currencies and Naira notes to the tune of $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million at a four-bedroom apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. The total amount of money recovered at the current Central Bank exchange rate is over N13 billion. The operation followed a confidential information received by the Commission's Lagos office regarding some suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. Another source who is conversant with the apartment indicated that a woman usually appeared on different occasions with 'Ghana Must Go' bags, the EFCC said. A suspected ritual killer, Adebayo Mudashiru, has confessed that he and his colleagues buy human parts, including skulls, eyes and teeth, for N12,000. The suspect was arrested alongside three others in the Abeokuta and Owode Egba areas of the state by men of the Ogun State Police Command. The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, paraded the suspects at the headquarters of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Magbon, Abeokuta over the weekend. Iliyasu said the four suspects specialized in killing for ritual purposes and belonged to two different ritual groups. He said one of the groups, comprising Mudashiru and Rasheed Abass, who resided in the Totoro area of Abeokuta, were arrested on 5 October by operatives of FSARS.
