Pandemonium as Custom officers allegedly kill rice smuggler in Ogun

MARCH 9TH,2017











Operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, on Wednesday allegedly shot dead a rice smuggler along Siun-Sagamu in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The deceased smuggler was said to be running away from Customs operatives.
It was learnt that the smuggler was chased to a location around Kobape area of the road where he was reportedly killed.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “The area commanders of Sagamu and Abeokuta, the Divisional Police Officer, Owode-Egba and other police officers are now on the ground to maintain peace and order.”

After weeks of intensive manhunt, the Lagos state police command has arrested one Ismaila Adeyemi, 49, the suspected mastermind and killer of Hector Jobateh (the 2007 winner of Gulder Ultimate search) who was traced and shot dead at his residence at New Oko-Oba in Agege, Lagos State. The suspect who was arrested at gas line Ominiyi in Ijoko area of Ogun state, confessed to the crime and other numerous crimes, while other members of his gang have been arrested. A mild drama occurred on the floor of the Senate, on Tuesday, when a point of order was raised, that the Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was the Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
