EFCC INVESTIGATING 7 GOVERNORS OVER PARIS CLUB REFUND DIVERSION

Seven Governors are reportedly under the searchlight of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Governors allegedly diverted funds from the London-Paris Club refunds, The Nation reports.
A source who spoke on the issue revealed that N19B and an unspecified amount were recovered from two accounts reportedly opened by the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
"The detectives have uncovered the two accounts opened in the name of the NGF and the signatories to same.
"We are looking into circumstances behind such huge deposits from London-Paris Club refunds into these accounts.
"The payment of 2% of the refunds to consultants and 3% to some governors which was rated as "curious" by investigators have been confirmed. We also discovered that some of the governors nominated these consultants," the source added.

Also, investigations revealed that a huge amount of money was also given to a highly placed principal officer of the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) has called on the Federal Government to take state Governors who allegedly mismanaged the Paris Club loan refunds to court.

WHISTLE BLOWER ASSISTS NAFDAC UNCOVER N200 MILLION FAKE PRODUCTS

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has uncovered fake and unregistered products valued at over N200 million. The products, confiscated through a whistle-blower’s report, were stocked in a building at 11, Omotosho Crescent, off Ewedana Street, Toll Gate, Ota in Ogun State.  The building also served as production outlet for bitters with fake NAFDAC registration numbers. At a briefing in Lagos yesterday, Acting Director-General of NAFDAC, Mrs. Yetunde Oni, explained that the building is a bungalow of five bedrooms, with two residential rooms, while the other three, the parlour and the kitchen were used for production of unregistered, deceptive and counterfeit products. GAY MARRIAGE;53 ATTENDEES OF A GAY MARRIAGE IN KADUNA ARRESTED

Police, yesterday, arraigned 53 persons, who were allegedly arrested during a gay marriage, before a magistrate’s court in Chediya-Zaria, Kaduna State. The prosecutor, Mannir Nasir, said the accused were arrested on April 15 at a motel and were being charged for conspiracy, unlawful assembly and belonging to a gang of unlawful society. He said the offences contravened Sections 97, 100 and 197(a) of Criminal Procedure Code, CPC. According to Nasir, “on April 15, at about 9p.m., a team of policemen, led by DSP Muhammad Lawal-Mashi, arrested and brought to the police station 53 persons.” The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges, and their counsel, Yunusa Umar, asked the court to release them on bail in line with sections 35 (4) and 36 (5) of the Constitution. A severely anorexic 15-year-old girl stepped in front of a train five days after being released from a psychiatric hospital, an inquest heard. Pippa ‘Pip’ McManus died at Gatley railway station after a family argument about her excessive gym use which ended with her running from her home shouting ‘I am going to kill myself now’. South Manchester assistant coroner Andrew Bridgman told jury members they would have to consider the risks to Pip of her release from the Priory Hospital, in Altrincham, and if that release had been properly managed.
