ALI MODU SHERIFF IN TEARS AS HE RELEASES STATEMENT ON EX PRESIDENT'S SUSPENSION
ALI MODU SHERIFF
The embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff, has disassociated himself from the news making rounds, that he is making plans to suspend former President, Goodluck Jonathan, and other party big wigs from the party, as reported by an online media, Post-Nigeria.
“There is no truth in the report published by Post-Nigeria, on plans to suspend Jonathan”, he said.
Speaking through his Deputy, Cairo Ojougboh, in a telephone interview with Daily Trust, last night, the PDP Chief said he loves the party, and does not wish that its members defect to other political parties.
Recall, that Post-Nigeria had reported that barely 48 hours after walking out on Jonathan, in a peace parley, Ali Modu-Sheriff, had said that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, his counterpart from Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, and others, are free to quit the PDP.
Ali Modu-Sheriff, had earlier threatened that the PDP under his watch, will have nothing to do with Jonathan and his cohorts.
While debunking the news on Jonathan’s suspension move, he said his regime would not condone impunity and indiscipline in whatever guise, but work towards re-defining the party, and giving hope to the ordinary Nigerians.
“We are very particular about the interest of our party. We love the PDP and we are also aware that politics is a game of numbers.
“We shall not make the mistake of allowing people leave the party if we can help it, but at the same time, we shall not condone indiscipline. We have left the door open for all, as we fight to re-position the party,” he said.
