BULLION VAN RAMS INTO GOVERNOR'S CONVOY

A bullion van belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday rammed into the convoy of Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

 The accident occurred near Ibafo on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

 Amosun was travelling to Lagos for an official assignment.

 The van damaged the escort vehicle in the governor’s convoy.

 An eyewitness alleged that the CBN convoy drove recklessly, attempting to overtake the governor’s convoy.

 He said on sensing danger, the governor’s escort commander used a public address system to warn the CBN convoy to stop reckless driving.

 “Not only was he ignored, the CBN driver hit the vehicle and went after other vehicles in the governor’s convoy, including Amosun’s official car, before he was stopped by security operatives attached to the governor.

 Amosun said: “This is lawlessness and the height of impunity.”

 He added: “If this could happen to a governor within his territory, you can imagine what they will do to our citizens who are going about their legitimate business.

 “We will not allow such senseless and reckless behaviour in Ogun State.”

FORMER SHELTON MANAGER ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING EMPLOYEES

The former manager of a Shelton restaurant is accused of sexually harassing employees and touching them inappropriately. Police started the investigation in March 2016 when three female employees of Dee's Kitchen at 509 Howe Ave. in Shelton went to police to report that 58-year-old Bryan Stockbridge, of Ansonia, was sexually harassing them and had touched them inappropriately on several occasions. Detectives quickly obtained an arrest warrant, but they could not apprehend him, police said. They then obtained information that Stockbridge fled to California after an interview with detectives. Shelton police obtained information today that Stockbridge was back in Connecticut, living in Ansonia, and they took him into custody. Stockbridge has been charged with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. He posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court tomorrow.

45-year-old Nigerian man Paul Gabriel Amos, who had previously been charged in a United States court for swindling Citibank was charged in a district court, Singapore on Wednesday, October 25 with laundering S$1.7 million. On October last year, Amos went viral after he was arrested for reckless and dangerous driving. Amos, who is a Permanent Resident in Singapore and married to a citizen, also faces eight charges under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act. Amos was prosecuted in a New York district court in 2009 for committing bank and wire fraud, according to a The New York Times report. Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an Anton Piller order, directing the seizure of a film titled "Okafor's Law" directed by Nollywood Producer, Omoni Oboli. The court also issued an interim order, suspending the release and launch of the film, in any movie theatre or cinema house on March 31, pending the determination of a motion on notice before the court. The judge ordered the seizure of all copies, materials, projections or infringing materials, relating to the subject matter. The orders followed an ex parte application filed by a company, Rancoteur Productions Ltd, on behalf of a Canada based script writer, Jude Idada. Idada lays claim to the film "Okafor's Law" as his intellectual property. Barely one week after a policeman lost his service rifle to unknown gunmen, another policeman has been attacked and killed by unidentified hoodlums in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The unnamed policeman was reportedly killed in a beer parlour in the state capital. It was learnt that the hoodlums stole a police AK47 rifle after murdering the policeman at one of the relaxation spots on Hospital Road area. Former minister of state for defence,Senator Musiliu Obanikoro had refunded a fresh sum of N30m to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,with a promise to return N417m. Punch quoted a source as saying that Obanikoro transferred the said sum from his Diamond Bank account to the EFCC Recovered Funds Account. According to the source, “I can confirm that Senator Obanikoro has been meeting up his part of the agreement.
