BULLION VAN RAMS INTO GOVERNOR'S CONVOY

A bullion van belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday rammed into the convoy of Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

 The accident occurred near Ibafo on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

 Amosun was travelling to Lagos for an official assignment.

 The van damaged the escort vehicle in the governor’s convoy.

 An eyewitness alleged that the CBN convoy drove recklessly, attempting to overtake the governor’s convoy.

 He said on sensing danger, the governor’s escort commander used a public address system to warn the CBN convoy to stop reckless driving.

 “Not only was he ignored, the CBN driver hit the vehicle and went after other vehicles in the governor’s convoy, including Amosun’s official car, before he was stopped by security operatives attached to the governor.

 Amosun said: “This is lawlessness and the height of impunity.”

 He added: “If this could happen to a governor within his territory, you can imagine what they will do to our citizens who are going about their legitimate business.

 “We will not allow such senseless and reckless behaviour in Ogun State.”

FORMER PRESIDENT CONFIRMS BURGLARY OF HOME AS HE REVEALS STOLEN ITEMS

Former President, Mr Goodluck Jonathan has confirmed the theft of his property from his house in Abuja. He confirmed the incident in a statement by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, following some media reports that the home was stripped bare and some of the items stolen were being sold in markets. "The house, which the former President bought from CITEC estate developers in 2004, was totally stripped bare by the thieves who stole every movable item in the house including furniture sets, beds, electronics, toilet and electrical fittings, as well as all internal doors and frames." The Police has arrested a suspected gang Leader in Ogun State for impersonation and the murder of a middle aged motorboy after an altercation in Abeokuta, the state capital. Parading the suspect alongside other suspects at the state command of the Police, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the suspect was a leader of a robbery gang allegedly terrorizing residents in many parts of the capital.  According to Mr Iliyasu, the suspect had brought an unregistered Sienna vehicle to one Alaja car wash, Leme Abeokuta and later on, got involved in an argument with a motorboy who was identified as Rasaq. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has set up a team to investigate the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. This was disclosed to DAILY POST by a source within the commission. The operative also confirmed that former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke, would also be invited. An ex-senator, and two-time member of House of Representatives, Senator Mudasiru Hussein has stirred widespread controversy after he was nominated as Commissioner in Osun State. A  mild drama played out at the Plateau State orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the Mangu area of the state as two newly sworn-in corps members were reportedly caught having sex inside a gutter. The randy corps members are among the many young graduates that were recently sworn in for the Batch A Stream 1 for the compulsory one year national service.
