A husband and wife from Florida are serving prison time for their roles in the country's first-of-its-kind case involving both health care fraud and sex trafficking.

Mollie Halpern: A husband and wife from Florida are serving prison time for their roles in the country's first-of-its-kind case involving both health care fraud and sex trafficking.
Kenneth and Laura Chatman owned housing and alcohol and drug addiction treatment centers meant to provide young patients with medical and clinical services.
Instead, Kenny gave some of his patients drugs, coerced them into prostitution, and filed more than $70 million worth of fraudulent claims to their insurance plans.
Case agent William Stewart says more than a dozen of Kenny's patients died from overdoses.
William Stewart: He really preyed on these individuals and their addiction. He made money off of their helplessness and off of their addiction.
Halpern: Investigators pored over financial and insurance records to find evidence of the Chatmans' and their co-conspirators' crimes.
It was a collaborative effort between all levels of law enforcement.
Stewart: Without their resources coming together with our resources, and their experience, we absolutely could not have handled the scope of this problem.
Mollie Halpern: Kenny and Laura Chatman enjoyed lavish lifestyles but now live behind bars as they were sentenced to 27 and three years in prison, respectively.

Jerusalem – The U.S. Army has inaugurated its first military base in Israel,which sends a message of readiness to Iran in the region, local media reported on Tuesday. The base's opening comes as Israel faces a slew of regional threats, especially from its Iran, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said. The Israeli military said the new base is located inside an existing Israel Air Force base in the southern region. The American military base houses dozens of U.S. soldiers operating radar device alongside Israeli soldiers as U.S. radar has been operational on site for a decade, using American civilians to operate it.

MAN ALLEGEDLY BEATS 85 YEAR OLD MUM TO DEATH TO PLEASE WIFE

A man has been arrested by the Egyptian police after he allegedly admitted to beating his 85-year-old mother to death because his wife complained about her. Zeinab as-Sayyid Mahfouz died at a hospital in Alexandria on September 15 after what many speculated to be domestic violence. After reports of him beating his aged mother to death circulated online, social media users in Egypt demanded that he be brought to justice. It was learnt that Zeinab's daughter-in-law had complained to her son about her after which he brutally beat her up to please his wife. Loyal Dog Stabbed Six Times For Trying To Protect His Owner This story proves that the old saying is true- dogs are man’s best friend.  According to the Facebook page of the Soweto Animal Rescue and Advisory Center, a family’s  loyal dog  was stabbed six times as he placed his own life at risk trying to protect his owners from their own son.  At the family’s home in Kibler Park, Johannesburg, the dog heard a loud noise and ran to the family’s aid.  “It’s alleged that the son wanted to stab his parents with a knife and the dog heard the screams and came to their aid, and as a result, sustained six stab wounds,” the  Soweto Animal Rescue  wrote on their  Facebook .  The dog has since been rescued and is receiving treatment at Kibler Park Veterinarian hospital.  An order of protection has been granted to the parents against their son, and authorities are still searching for the suspect....
