A husband and wife from Florida are serving prison time for their roles in the country's first-of-its-kind case involving both health care fraud and sex trafficking.

Mollie Halpern: A husband and wife from Florida are serving prison time for their roles in the country's first-of-its-kind case involving both health care fraud and sex trafficking.
Kenneth and Laura Chatman owned housing and alcohol and drug addiction treatment centers meant to provide young patients with medical and clinical services.
Instead, Kenny gave some of his patients drugs, coerced them into prostitution, and filed more than $70 million worth of fraudulent claims to their insurance plans.
Case agent William Stewart says more than a dozen of Kenny's patients died from overdoses.
William Stewart: He really preyed on these individuals and their addiction. He made money off of their helplessness and off of their addiction.
Halpern: Investigators pored over financial and insurance records to find evidence of the Chatmans' and their co-conspirators' crimes.
It was a collaborative effort between all levels of law enforcement.
Stewart: Without their resources coming together with our resources, and their experience, we absolutely could not have handled the scope of this problem.
Mollie Halpern: Kenny and Laura Chatman enjoyed lavish lifestyles but now live behind bars as they were sentenced to 27 and three years in prison, respectively.

MAN IN CUSTODY FOR ASSAULT ON PREGNANT WOMAN February 22, 2017; An Osun Magistrate Court sitting in Ile-Ife has docked one Dayo Adebayo, 29, for alleged assault on a pregnant woman.   The prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 13, around 11:45 pm at Ehindi Street, Ile-Ife.Osanyintuyi, said Adebayo assaulted the woman named Blessing Monday, by hitting her with his fist across her face, causing various injuries.He added that the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 356 of the Criminal Code (Cap 34 Vol 11), Laws of Osun, 2002. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against him.Defence counsel, Mrs Innocent Akhigbe, therefore pleaded for the bail of the accused in most Liberal terms, promising that her client would not jump bail and would provide reliable sureties. NIGERIAN NURSE TRIES DRAGGING TEENAGER INTO HIS CAR FOR SEX, FILMS ANOTHER NAKED A cancer nurse tried to drag a 16-year-old girl into his car containing 16 condoms, three tins of Vaseline and a roll of tape, a jury has heard in the U.K. It is alleged Michael Ohaegbu grabbed her off a Hull street last September.  He denies attempted kidnap, assault, and committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence. The 42-year-old also pleaded not guilty at Hull Crown Court to three counts of voyeurism, which relate to another complainant.  Ohaegbu, who worked at Castle Hill Hospital, is accused of twice filming the second complainant naked, and once under a table at a restaurant, without her consent between July and August 2016. The court was told, that on 26 September, the teenager was walking along Peel Street after midnight when Mr Ohaegbu tried to kidnap her, allegedly, with the intention of committing a sexual offence. 72-year-old Clarence White who got fed up of his wife complaining about his inability to satisfy her sexually or financially ended up pulling the trigger on her. The man is said to have grabbed a 22-caliber handgun and shot his much-younger wife in the face at their Bronx home on Thursday morning. Sources told the New York Daily News that the shooting followed an argument between White and his 28-year-old wife over her growing dissatisfaction with his inability to satisfy her financially or sexually. Responding officers who were called to the scene found Dominique White around 8:40 a.m. sitting on the floor in a hallway of their home on Glebe Ave. in Parkchester. KOGI GOVERNOR SEEKS ASSEMBLY'S APPROVAL FOR N11 BN SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, in a letter to the State House of Assembly, is seeking the approval of a supplementary budget of N11 billion for the 2017 fiscal year. The governor said the budget would take care of certain areas of economic development that were not previously captured.(Kogi state has not recorded any singular form of development since the present government came into existence) Bello stated that the budget would enable his administration to continue to execute its projects and programmes.(EFCC please note) The governor said it will also address security issues and other obvious sectors' challenges that are within and outside the current approved budget. After reading the letter to the House, Speaker Ahmed Imam directed the Majority Leader, Mathew Kolawole to slate it on the order paper for consideration at the next legislative day. The House is expected to consider the governor's request when members resume sitting on 1 August, 2017.
