The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has withdrawn its motion seeking an order of the Federal High Court in Abuja allowing it to serve the recall petition on the Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba struck out the motion after INEC’s lawyer, Yunus Ustaz (SAN), announced its withdrawal in court on Thursday.
The judge also directed that all issues pertaining to the case should thereafter be taken to the Court of Appeal.

He noted that since Melaye’s appeal against the court’s September 11 judgment had been entered at the Court of Appeal, all pending applications, including the ones filed by Melaye for stay of execution of the verdict, should be taken to the Court of Appeal.

It is a milestone success for the Senator but a big blow on the part of the tag team duo of Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello and  Senator Smart Adeyemi whose constituents can not point to any dividend of democracy all the years he spent in the upper chamber,both of whom Senator Dino repeatedly said orchestrated his recall to disgrace him.

EFCC UNCOVERS N13 BILLION CASH IN LOCAL AND FOREIGN CURRENCIES IN LAGOS APARTMENT

The whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government appears to be paying off as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday announced that it uncovered foreign currencies and Naira notes to the tune of $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million at a four-bedroom apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. The total amount of money recovered at the current Central Bank exchange rate is over N13 billion. The operation followed a confidential information received by the Commission's Lagos office regarding some suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. Another source who is conversant with the apartment indicated that a woman usually appeared on different occasions with 'Ghana Must Go' bags, the EFCC said. POLICE PARADED RITUAL KILLERS WHO BUY HUMAN SKULLS,EYES AND TEETH FOR N12,000

A suspected ritual killer, Adebayo Mudashiru, has confessed that he and his colleagues buy human parts, including skulls, eyes and teeth, for N12,000. The suspect was arrested alongside three others in the Abeokuta and Owode Egba areas of the state by men of the Ogun State Police Command. The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, paraded the suspects at the headquarters of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Magbon, Abeokuta over the weekend. Iliyasu said the four suspects specialized in killing for ritual purposes and belonged to two different ritual groups. He said one of the groups, comprising Mudashiru and Rasheed Abass, who resided in the Totoro area of Abeokuta, were arrested on 5 October by operatives of FSARS.
