NO RESPONSIBLE IGBO PERSON SUPPORTS BIAFRA

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has berated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu's agitation for Biafra, describing it as child's play.

The governor spoke on Wednesday after leading a delegation of the Southeast Governors Forum on a visit to victims of the recent Benue flood disaster in Benue state.

The governor said no reasonable Igbo man was backing the agitation.

"I have always said that IPOB is an agitation group, but the captioning is bad when you talk of sovereignty within a sovereign nation and also talking of secession.

"Let me assure you that no Igbo person or man is in support of secession and people must see this as a childish act. We must stand up to address it before it becomes a national problem.

"As for us leaders in that area, it will be insane for anyone to think that the IPOB leader will ask us to follow him to seek secession.

"So Nigerians must learn to address it specifically. If you are addressing IPOB you should be specific and not to address it as if it is an Igbo affair." the governor said.

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said that no amount of scare-mongering will dissuade it from “vigorously enforcing its mandate to rid Nigeria of corruption”, if the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, is found guilty in its latest findings. The suspect, a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, was arrested alongside his accomplice, Adebayo Kazeem, 32, after stealing the items from their work place. Hamzat, a father of three, allegedly stole the bags of cement from the company a day after he was promoted to the post of a supervisor with a financial reward of N215,000 per month. The suspect started work at the factory as a Contract Security from where he rose to become an operator. Nigerian soldier sentenced to death for killing civilian February 1, 2017 Agency Report The Nigeria Army general court martial sitting in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday sentenced a soldier to seven years in prison for shooting and killing an unarmed civilian two years ago. The convicted soldier, Hassan Adamu, a lance corporal, had told the court that he shot the deceased on December 23, 2015 in self defence. He said the victim attempted to disarm him while he was on guard duty at the popular Monday market, Maiduguri. He narrated that the deceased came from nowhere screaming Allahu Akbar, and running towards his duty post.
