NO RESPONSIBLE IGBO PERSON SUPPORTS BIAFRA

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has berated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu's agitation for Biafra, describing it as child's play.

The governor spoke on Wednesday after leading a delegation of the Southeast Governors Forum on a visit to victims of the recent Benue flood disaster in Benue state.

The governor said no reasonable Igbo man was backing the agitation.

"I have always said that IPOB is an agitation group, but the captioning is bad when you talk of sovereignty within a sovereign nation and also talking of secession.

"Let me assure you that no Igbo person or man is in support of secession and people must see this as a childish act. We must stand up to address it before it becomes a national problem.

"As for us leaders in that area, it will be insane for anyone to think that the IPOB leader will ask us to follow him to seek secession.

"So Nigerians must learn to address it specifically. If you are addressing IPOB you should be specific and not to address it as if it is an Igbo affair." the governor said.

Naira rate worsens to the dollar  January 31, 2017 The naira dropped against the United States dollar from 498 to 500 at the parallel market during the early trading hours on Monday. The currency thus crossed the critical threshold analysts had predicted. At the official market, the local unit closed at 305/dollar, the level it has traded at since August last year. The CBN had two weeks ago commenced sales of dollars to the BDC operators through Travelex, following a three-week break during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. At least 36 bodies have been found at the Resorts World Manila entertainment complex that was stormed by a gunman, in what officials believe was a botched robbery. Most of the dead suffocated in the chaos as guests and staff tried to flee choking smoke at the complex after the attack began shortly after midnight. A middle aged man has been arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital for being in possession of human parts. Tribune Online gathered that the suspect had been under surveillance of residents of Ita Kudimo, Abata Suban, Pakata area of Ilorin West local government in the past few days after speculation grew that he possessed a corpse in his building.
