"PRODUCE NNAMDI KANU OR FACE WAR" IPOB TELLS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has threatened to confront security operatives if the federal government failed to produce its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, dead or alive, on Tuesday in court.

The IPOB leader has not been seen since the Nigerian Army allegedly invaded his home in September.

Kanu, who was arrested in Lagos on 14 October, 2015, for alleged treasonable felony, among others, was released in April, 2017, after Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had granted him bail.
He was ordered to return to court to face his trial on 17 October.
And IPOB, in a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, said: "The barefaced lies of the Nigerian Defence Minister, General Mansur Dan Ali, and that of the Buhari regime against our leader and organisation is beginning to unravel before the eyes of the world.
"By admitting publicly that soldiers were sent to Isiama Afaraukwu to look for our leader without any order or warrant from a court of law confirms the contempt in which the Nigerian government holds the rule of law and their judicial process.
"It is therefore incumbent upon civilised nations of the world and organisations alike to ask the APC-led Nigerian government why they decided to send armed soldiers to invade Kanu's residence."
It further said: "One outcome is guaranteed in all this, should Nigeria not produce our leader in court on the 17th of October 2017, there will be inevitable confrontation on a scale the human mind cannot imagine, at a time and place of our choosing."

A herdsman carrying a gun Herdsmen armed with guns killed 20 farmers and injured eight other people in a mosque in Niger state over the weekend, police said on Monday. Fighting over land use between semi-nomadic cattle herders and more settled communities, claims hundreds of lives yearly in the middle belt and in northern Nigeria. Last year, the government said preventing attacks was a security priority. Bala Elkana, a spokesman for Niger state police, said the attack happened at about 05:00 a.m. (0400 GMT) on Saturday at Epogi community, in the Mokwa area of the state. “It was a clash between farmers and herders which had been initially handled but some herders felt unsatisfied and … they launched a reprisal attack on some villagers praying in a mosque,” Elkana said. Three people had been arrested, he said. Nigeria’s poor transport and communications infrastructure can slow the speed at which reports of events in some rural communities are passed on.

A man’s leg was ‘nearly severed’ during a machete attack in north Manchester. The victim also suffered serious head injuries when he was slashed with the weapon at an address on Kingscliffe Street, Harpurhey , on Thursday afternoon. A silver Jeep is said to have pulled up outside the property just before 1.30pm. Three men got out of the vehicle and forced their way into the terraced house, police said. Eyewitnesses told how a man was then attacked outside with a machete. Paramedics were also called to the address and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remained in a stable condition on Thursday night, officers said.
