IRAN DENOUNCES "CIA FAKE NEWS" IN BIN LADEN FILES

Iran has accused the CIA of spreading "fake news" about the Islamic republic with newly declassified files seized in the 2011 raid in Pakistan in which Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was killed.

The CIA on Wednesday released 470,000 additional files found in May 2011 when US Navy SEALs burst into Bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad and shot him dead.

According to scholars from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), who were allowed to see the trove before it was made public, the files shed new light on the murky relationship between the Sunni extremist group and Shiite Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif dismissed the allegations.
"A record low for the reach of petrodollars: CIA & FDD fake news w/selective AlQaeda docs re: Iran can't whitewash role of US allies in 9/11," he wrote on Twitter late on Thursday.
The release of the files comes as US President Donald Trump's administration seeks to ramp up pressure on Iran, refusing to certify a landmark nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers.

Iran denies any link to Al-Qaeda and has provided financial and military backing to help the Syrian regime fight Sunni extremists and other opponents.
The Fars news agency, which is close to Iranian conservatives, said Thursday that the selective publication of documents by the CIA related to Al-Qaeda was part of efforts "to put pressure on Iran".

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Memphis preschool worker has been charged with aggravated child abuse after police say she dragged a 16-month-old boy by one leg and broke the other. Police said the toddler was injured September 20 at the M.E.M. Preschool and Summer Camp on Macon road while he was being watched by Omeika Williams. Investigators said Williams told the child’s parents the boy tripped over a rug and hurt his left leg, but video from the preschool showed her dragging the boy by his right leg causing his left to twist under his body. The child was diagnosed with a fractured left tibia and is now in a leg cast. We tried to contact the preschool, but no one answered at the business.

An Ile-Ife Magistrate Court has remanded one Isreal Ojimi, 38, said to be a prophet and Bose Adetimikan, 27, in prison custody over alleged rituals. The prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 20, 2017, around 10:00 pm at Mosarajo area via Ile-Ife. According to him, they had armed themselves with some charms in the form of a garment with an intention to commit felony. He further explained that they conducted themselves in a manner that caused mayhem, adding that their behavior was against the norms and ethics of the nation and had contravened sections 213, 249 (d) and 516 of the State Penal Code. Although defence counsel, Mr Alaba Awoseemo pleaded for their bail in most libral terms, the plea was not accepted. Amilcar Henriquez shot dead in his Panama home . Police in Panama say national team soccer player Amilcar Henriquez has been shot dead while leaving his home. The press chief for Panama’s National Police says the killing happened Saturday in the country’s Colon province. Authorities say a gunman shot the 33-year-old midfielder several times. Another two people were wounded. The player died at a nearby hospital. President Juan Carlos Varela has condemned the killing on his Twitter account. He is calling for authorities in Colon to find those responsible. Henriquez was part of the Panama team that is trying to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. February 15 2017 A homicide investigation is underway Wednesday after two bodies, presumed to be missing 13-year-olds Liberty German and Abigail Williams, were found on Tuesday. The two school friends were last seen on Monday afternoon after they went for a hike along the Delphi Historic Trail in Carroll County, Indiana - just a few miles from home. Sgt. Hundreds of Palestinians held in Israeli jails are beginning a mass hunger strike in protest against their conditions. The action is being led by Marwan Barghouti, a Palestinian leader jailed by Israel for life for five murders.
