SENATOR DINO MELAYE ATTACK IN KABBA,RUMOURS HAVE IT THAT HOODLUMS WERE PAID TO MAKE IT LOOK HE IS NOT LIKED

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye narrowly escaped a mob attack in Kabba, Kogi State, North central Nigeria, as suspected hoodlums launched attacks on him, pelting him with stone and other dangerous weapons.

The incident, witnesses say, happened during Kabba Day Celebration  where he was invited as special guest by the organisers.

The attack on the Senator it was learnt prevented the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who was already in Kabba for the occasion, from showing up at the venue following advice from security details.

The advanced team of the governor and government appointees were already at the venue, waiting for the arrival of number citizen of the State, before the attack.

Witnesses said trouble started when the Master of the Ceremony called on the Senator to present his speech and donation before the arrival of the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to the venue which was at the township stadium.

Shortly after his speech and a subsequent donation of N3million cash at the venue, the Senator was stepping out of the podium walking towards his bullet proof Mercedes Benz Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) when some hoodlums followed him and started throwing stones, bags of sachet water and other dangerous weapons including charms at him. 

It was gathered that following the prompt reaction of his security details, the Senator was able to escape while some of the thugs were arrested and taken away in Nigerian Prisons vehicle with registration number PS 300A 0/1.

The security men had to use tear gas to bring the situation under control.

It was however gathered that when security report got to the governor who was already in Kabba at Golden Grand Royal hotel, he decided to go back to Lokoja to avoid any trouble.

Sources close to the organising committee disclosed that the alleged attack on Senator Dino might have stopped the governor from coming to the venue.

There was strong indication however that some people might also cause another crisis if the governor had attended the programme.

All said,mayegba.blogspot.com was in Kabba (the maternal ancestral home of mayegba himself) in Kogi state to investigate and heard from indigienes that it was all a show,and that apart from the paid hoodlums who carried out the act,no law abiding citizen was involved in the criminal act.

Other unreliable sources said those in the governor's camp sponsored the embarrassment on the senator to make it look like all love for him was lost in his own constituency and among his very own people.
