TANZANIA'S PRESIDENT MAGUFULI WARNS KENYANS TO KEEP OFF COUNTRY'S GRAZING GROUNDS
Magufuli claimed the neighbouring country was not a feeding ground for Kenyan livestock

President John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania has vowed to take stern action against Kenya pastoralists who trespass into Tanzania in search of pastures for their livestock.
Addressing residents of Kagera province on Monday, November 6, Magufuli said Tanzania is not a grazing field for cattle from neighbouring countries.
He ordered that cattle from neighbouring countries found in Tanzania be impounded and steps takes according to Tanzanian laws.
"Tanzania sio shamba la kuchungia mifugo wa nchi jirani, ndio maana tumeamua kukamata mifugo na kuchukua hatua kwa mujibu wa sheria. Na hata huko nchi jirani wakishika mifugo kutoka Tanzania wachukue hatua za kisheria za nchi hizo (Tanzania is not a grazing field for livestock from neighbouring countries. That is why we have auctioned the livestock. Even the neighbouring countries should take necessary action if they find Tanzanian livestock in their borders)," Magufuli said.
His sentiments come days after Tanzania held at least 1035 cows from Kenya found grazing in their borders.
A court in Tanzania ordered that the cows be auctioned.
Recently, Tanzania burned 6000 live chicks from Kenya which had been smuggled into Dar es Salaam.
