New sentence, for breaching a supervision order by raping a woman days after he killed Masa Vukotic, takes jail term to 41 years

Schoolgirl killer Sean Price has been handed an extra three years' jail for breaching a supervision order by raping a woman days after the homicide.

The sentence takes his total jail term to 41 years and means the 33-year-old will now not be eligible for parole until after 39 years and five months.

Price appeared in the county court of Victoria on Thursday via video link to hear his sentence but Judge Meryl Sexton disconnected him from the hearing when he began playing up and making offensive gestures.

She earlier refused his request to personally make a "commentary" to the court, given he was already legally represented.

Price pleaded guilty to breaching a 10-year supervision order when he raped a woman in a Christian bookshop, shortly after killing schoolgirl Masa Vukotic by stabbing her 49 times in March 2015.

He admitted committing the rape purely for gratification because he knew he would be locked up for the murder for a long time, Sexton said.

Price was jailed for life in 2016 for the rape and murder, to be eligible for parole in 2053 when aged 70.

But on Thursday Sexton jailed him for an extra three years for the supervision order breach. She set a new non-parole period of 39 years and five months.
"I find there is no remorse," she said. 

"You are now and will remain a significant danger to the community for the immediate future."

A herdsman carrying a gun Herdsmen armed with guns killed 20 farmers and injured eight other people in a mosque in Niger state over the weekend, police said on Monday. Fighting over land use between semi-nomadic cattle herders and more settled communities, claims hundreds of lives yearly in the middle belt and in northern Nigeria. Last year, the government said preventing attacks was a security priority. Bala Elkana, a spokesman for Niger state police, said the attack happened at about 05:00 a.m. (0400 GMT) on Saturday at Epogi community, in the Mokwa area of the state. “It was a clash between farmers and herders which had been initially handled but some herders felt unsatisfied and … they launched a reprisal attack on some villagers praying in a mosque,” Elkana said. A man’s leg was ‘nearly severed’ during a machete attack in north Manchester. The victim also suffered serious head injuries when he was slashed with the weapon at an address on Kingscliffe Street, Harpurhey , on Thursday afternoon. Months after an initial interception, another container filled with arms has been discovered at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos, the Nigeria Customs has declared on Tuesday. A source at the port said the container was found at the Ports and Cargo Terminal of the Tin Can Island Ports. “As I speak to you, they’ve ordered everyone to go out of the terminal and they have locked up everywhere,” the source said. The spokesperson of the Nigeria Customs, Tin Can Island Command, Uche Ejesieme, confirmed the incident and said details would be made public later. “We are still counting,” Mr. Ejesieme told Premium Times over the phone.
