YOUTH PROTEST SENATOR ADELEKE'S DEATH,SUSPECT FOUL PLAY

 Irate youths protesting the sudden demise of Senator Isiaka Adeleke have attacked a journalist attached to the NTA, Mr. Tope Alabi, and his cameraman.

 The incident happened as the NTA crew moved to the residence of the late politician in Ede to cover the sad event.One of the youths, however, used a motorcycle to rescue Alabi, while the cameraman ran inside one of the houses nearby as the youths wielding cudgel and sticks pursued him.

 The youths believed that Adeleke was attacked spiritually, while others claimed that he was poisoned, hence his sudden demise.

 They said he was killed to pave way for another APC aspirant to win next year’s governorship election.

US MILITARY SAYS SENIOR ISIS COMMANDERS KILLED IN AFGHAN AIR STRIKE

Several senior members of Islamic State's central Asian affiliate were killed in a U.S. air strike in Afghanistan, officials said on Sunday. The attack on Thursday killed Abdul Rahman, identified by the U.S. military as the Kunar provincial emir for Islamic State of Iraq and Syria-Khorasan, according to a statement from the command in Kabul. "The death of Abdul Rahman deals yet another blow to the senior leadership of ISIS-K," said General John Nicholson, the senior U.S. commander in Afghanistan. Three other senior ISIS-K members were also among those killed in the strike in eastern Kunar province. Nicholson has vowed to defeat Islamic State militants in Afghanistan this year. The group's emir, Abu Sayed, was reported killed in a strike on his headquarters in Kunar in July, the third Islamic State emir in Afghanistan to be killed since July 2016. THE LATE BELOVED SENATOR ISIAKA ADELEKE Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, rescued an aide to Osun State Governor, Ms Idiat Babalola, from mob attack at the premises of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, on Monday. According to the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to Amosun, Mr. Adejuwon Soyinka, the crowd of sympathisers demanded that Babalola be made to leave the premises of the Ede,Osun State country home of the Adelekes. The irate youths said Babalola was being touted to become the running mate of the anointed candidate of the APC. Problem started when Babalola was sighted by the mourners who demanded that she should be sent out. ISRAEL HOSTS AMERICA'S FIRST MILITARY BASE ON IT'S SOIL TO CURB IRAN

Jerusalem – The U.S. Army has inaugurated its first military base in Israel,which sends a message of readiness to Iran in the region, local media reported on Tuesday. The base's opening comes as Israel faces a slew of regional threats, especially from its Iran, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said. The Israeli military said the new base is located inside an existing Israel Air Force base in the southern region. The American military base houses dozens of U.S. soldiers operating radar device alongside Israeli soldiers as U.S. radar has been operational on site for a decade, using American civilians to operate it.

SOUTH SUDAN REBELS SAY THEY HAVE RETAKEN TOWN NEAR BORDER WITH ETHIOPIA

South Sudan's rebels on Saturday said they had wrested control of Pagak, their stronghold town near the country's border with Ethiopia, from government forces, a day after launching an offensive to drive them out. Formerly controlled by the rebels, the town was captured by South Sudan's military five days ago but heavy fighting erupted on Friday with rebels vowing to retake it. "We took control of Pagak...government forces are not in Pagak, we have pushed them out," rebel spokesman Lam Paul Gabriel told Reuters. Dickson Gatluak Jock, spokesman for South Sudan's Vice President, Taban Deng Gai, denied the military had lost Pagak but said they had lost three soldiers in the fighting while four were wounded. Gai is a former rebel but last year he defected to the government side and was handed the vice presidency job. Daily Post gathered that the girl died on Tuesday at about 8pm and she is still lying in state in her father's compound waiting for the arrival of the mother's family from Ayakoromo community. Meanwhile, her father, Tele Egbegi has fled the community for fear of being mobbed.
