Nigerian hip-hop artist Innocent Idibia, better known as TuFace, has abandoned his much-hyped plan to lead a nationwide protest against the Nigerian government. Mr. Idibia had said in several statements that his protest was to draw attention to the widespread suffering and deepening poverty in Nigeria. The musical artist, whose song, "African Queen," earned him wide recognition in Africa and beyond, canceled his planned protest late Saturday evening, claiming that his decision was based on security fears that hoodlums might hijack the planned protest. The musician's statement echoed the sentiment of Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni and another release from the Nigerian Police headquarters. A Jehovah's Witness convention in Angola was attacked with toxic gas on Friday, causing over 400 people to faint. A local news source, Portal de Angola, reported on Saturday that three young men were detained after the attack. According to the report, some 7,000 worshippers were at a venue on the outskirts of Luanda for the weekend-long convention. Forty-three victims were rushed to the hospital, but no deaths have been reported. A witness, Abraham Kituxi, told Portal de Angola that his sister-in-law was one of the first to collapse. She told him that she had smelled something foul before passing out. Shortly thereafter, more people began collapsing, creating panic throughout the venue. Close to 24 hours after their abduction, the whereabouts of the kidnapped German archaeologist, Professor Peter Breunij and his research fellow, Johannes Buringer remains unknown. The two german nationals were abducted on Thursday afternoon around Kaduna State-Abuja axis, a security source in Abuja who is closely following the situation has told SaharaReporters. Prof. Breunij is an authority on Nok culture and other issues associated with the ancient culture of Southern Kaduna. THE LATE BELOVED SENATOR ISIAKA ADELEKE Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, rescued an aide to Osun State Governor, Ms Idiat Babalola, from mob attack at the premises of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, on Monday. According to the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to Amosun, Mr. Adejuwon Soyinka, the crowd of sympathisers demanded that Babalola be made to leave the premises of the Ede,Osun State country home of the Adelekes. The irate youths said Babalola was being touted to become the running mate of the anointed candidate of the APC. Problem started when Babalola was sighted by the mourners who demanded that she should be sent out.
