MAGU'S CASE ; PROF SAGAY BLASTS PARLIAMENT,CALLS SENATE "THE BAD PARTY IN NIGERIA"

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay has strongly criticized the insistent refusal of the National Assembly to approve Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Sagay, in an interview with Channels TV early this morning, said the Senate was only discharging its duties with self-love and tyranny at the expense of the country. He noted the case of rejecting appointment of Magu as the EFCC Boss is a peculiar case.
"The Senate is the bad party in this country. The Executice can proceed with the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the EFCC as stipulated by the law. if the Senate is not careful, Magu will remain the EFCC boss without the consent of the legislature. The Acting President is right for saying that", the Professor of Law stated.

FORMER SHELTON MANAGER ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING EMPLOYEES

The former manager of a Shelton restaurant is accused of sexually harassing employees and touching them inappropriately. Police started the investigation in March 2016 when three female employees of Dee's Kitchen at 509 Howe Ave. in Shelton went to police to report that 58-year-old Bryan Stockbridge, of Ansonia, was sexually harassing them and had touched them inappropriately on several occasions. Detectives quickly obtained an arrest warrant, but they could not apprehend him, police said. They then obtained information that Stockbridge fled to California after an interview with detectives. Shelton police obtained information today that Stockbridge was back in Connecticut, living in Ansonia, and they took him into custody. Stockbridge has been charged with three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. He posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court tomorrow.

45-year-old Nigerian man Paul Gabriel Amos, who had previously been charged in a United States court for swindling Citibank was charged in a district court, Singapore on Wednesday, October 25 with laundering S$1.7 million. On October last year, Amos went viral after he was arrested for reckless and dangerous driving. Amos, who is a Permanent Resident in Singapore and married to a citizen, also faces eight charges under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act. Amos was prosecuted in a New York district court in 2009 for committing bank and wire fraud, according to a The New York Times report. Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an Anton Piller order, directing the seizure of a film titled "Okafor's Law" directed by Nollywood Producer, Omoni Oboli. The court also issued an interim order, suspending the release and launch of the film, in any movie theatre or cinema house on March 31, pending the determination of a motion on notice before the court. The judge ordered the seizure of all copies, materials, projections or infringing materials, relating to the subject matter. The orders followed an ex parte application filed by a company, Rancoteur Productions Ltd, on behalf of a Canada based script writer, Jude Idada. Idada lays claim to the film "Okafor's Law" as his intellectual property. Barely one week after a policeman lost his service rifle to unknown gunmen, another policeman has been attacked and killed by unidentified hoodlums in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The unnamed policeman was reportedly killed in a beer parlour in the state capital. Former minister of state for defence,Senator Musiliu Obanikoro had refunded a fresh sum of N30m to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,with a promise to return N417m. Punch quoted a source as saying that Obanikoro transferred the said sum from his Diamond Bank account to the EFCC Recovered Funds Account. According to the source, “I can confirm that Senator Obanikoro has been meeting up his part of the agreement.
