2 TEACHERS AND A NURSE ARRAIGNED FOR DEFILING 7 PUPILS AND ABORTION

Two teachers of Nazareth Junior and Senior College, Epe, Lagos State, have been arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate's Court for allegedly defiling seven pupils of the school.

The teachers, Oke Mustapha and Yisau Musibau, were arraigned on Friday on three counts bordering on sexual assault. A native nurse, Abimbola Adessani, was also arraigned for administering drugs on a pupil who was impregnated by one of the teachers.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi, who disclosed this in his office on Thursday, said that the arrest followed the confession by the teachers to sexual abuse at a Personnel Management Board meeting to investigate the allegation.

He explained that the pupils, who were the complainants, had offered statements at the Lagos State Police Command. Odeyemi added that the government had ordered a comprehensive medical examination for the pupils to aid investigations.

An attempt by a mother of two children to smuggle a phone to her boyfriend in prison custody has been foiled by the officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 33-year-old woman, Fatima Balogun who has been arrested by men of the Special Intelligence Unit of the NPS, carried out the action on Wednesday at the gate lodge of Abeokuta maximum Prisons in Ibara. The suspect confessed that she hid the phone which she bought for her boyfriend identified as Ganiyu Ajibode, in the cooler of soup from the Prisons officials. Two Fulani herdsmen, Umar and Musa Ali, who are brothers, have been arrested by men of the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at Tudun Lambaga in the Eggon Hills area, Eggon Local Government Area of the state. The victim, simply identified as Esther, was reportedly ambushed and assaulted by the suspects at a secluded part of the road.
