KIDNAPPERS DEMAND 6MILLION NAIRA AFTER ABDUCTING APC STRONGMAN

Gunmen have abducted a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Barrister Kingsley Ononuju.
A family source told our correspondent on Saturday that Ononuju was kidnapped after he left his Owerri residence located at Oguta Street in Aladimma area of the state capital at 8pm on Thursday.

The family source who preferred anonymity said that the gunmen established contact with the family on Friday where they demanded N6m as the condition for his release.

The source said, "We don't know at what point he was kidnapped but his abduction took place after he left his Owerri residence at about 8pm on Thursday. His abductors called on Friday and allowed us to speak to him. We also spoke on Saturday. They are demanding N6m as ransom."

The kidnap victim was a member of the People's Democratic Party and served as a Special Adviser on New Partnership For Africa's Development to the former Governor of the State, Ikedi Ohakim.
When contacted, the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said that the kidnap incident had yet to be reported to the police.

AUTOPSY REVEALS REAL CAUSE OF JOY ODAMA DEATH

Late Joy Odama Autopsy has revealed that Joy Odama who was allegedly killed by an Alhaji in Abuja, died after inhaling carbon monoxide fumes. Joy Odama, a 200 level undergraduate Mass Communication student at Cross River State University, according to her mother was murdered by Usman Adamu. Contrary to the bereaved woman's allegation, the police reports that the result of the autopsy found carbon monoxide fumes in her body. This result is also contrary to that of another medical official, Dr Jibrin, who claimed that the girl died after taking cocaine. The federal government says it is ready for its first major prosecutions of suspects linked to Boko Haram insurgency. Trials of the suspects will take place at a military base. The defendants have all been arrested and detained since the start of insurgency in the country's northeast in 2009. The Justice ministry announced last month that some 1,670 detainees would go on trial at a civilian court at a military base in Kainji, in the central state of Niger. A further 651 others at the Giwa barracks in the capital of the northeastern state of Borno, Maiduguri, would then be tried. LAGOS NEW POLCOM ORDERS ARREST OF 3 CORRUPT POLICE OFFICERS

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, has ordered the 'X' Squad of the Command to arrest three Police officers, who were reportedly caught extorting motorists in Surulere area of the state. In a statement by spokesperson of the Command, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the Police boss also ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration of the Command to issue a query to the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of the affected area. According to the statement, the Police Commissioner equally said a report on the conduct of the senior officer will be sent to higher authorities for poorly supervising his men.
