40 YEARS ON,102 YEAR OLD PAEDOPHILE ORDERED TO PAY THEN 5YEAR OLD CHILD HE SEXUALLY MOLESTED £25,000 (PHOTO)

A 101-year-old paedophile who sexually abused a schoolgirl 40 years ago has been ordered to pay her £25,000 in compensation. But Douglas Hammersley, who will turn 102 this month, has been spared jail for molesting his young victim during the 1970s. 

The woman, now in her 40s, went to the police after Douglas' family threw him a party to celebrate his 100th birthday last year and the event was reported in a local newspaper.

She was praised for her bravery and courage during the sentencing hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday. Hammersley was given a two-year suspended prison sentence, placed on the sex offender register and ordered to pay £25,000 compensation.

SunNewsUK reports that Judge Francis Sheridan said that the victim has waited a long time for justice and he hopes she gets closure. Hammersley previously pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent assault against a girl under the age of 14, in 1977 and 1979

Barely one week after a policeman lost his service rifle to unknown gunmen, another policeman has been attacked and killed by unidentified hoodlums in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. LEEDS, Ala. A 12-year-old girl died Sunday after authorities believe she was accidentally shot by a family member during a gathering in Alabama, according to multiple reports. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the girl as Kayla Mendenhall, AL.com reported. Authorities told the news site that Kayla and an adult family member were wrestling when a gun worn by the adult discharged. Kayla was shot in the upper leg and died at a hospital.
