LAGOS NEW POLCOM ORDERS ARREST OF 3 CORRUPT POLICE OFFICERS

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, has ordered the 'X' Squad of the Command to arrest three Police officers, who were reportedly caught extorting motorists in Surulere area of the state.

In a statement by spokesperson of the Command, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the Police boss also ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration of the Command to issue a query to the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of the affected area.

According to the statement, the Police Commissioner equally said a report on the conduct of the senior officer will be sent to higher authorities for poorly supervising his men.

He also ordered that, henceforth, only heads of departments, area commanders and divisional police officers, who are directly in charge of their departments or stations, are allowed to sign a detention order in the command.The statement said the command will no longer tolerate unnecessary detention of citizens.

"It has become very vital for all officers and men in Lagos State Police Command to adhere strictly to these instructions and on no account will the fundamental rights of the citizens be trampled upon under my watch," the statement quoted Mr. Imohimi as saying.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had so far, through painstaking investigations by its operatives, traced N47.2bn and $487.5m in cash and properties to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke. These, the anti-graft agency said, were apart from "boxes of gold, silver and diamond jewellery, worth several million British pounds sterling," discovered during a search of Diezani's palatial residences in Abuja. The EFCC said it discovered several of Diezani's landed properties scattered all over Lagos and other parts of the country in the course of its investigations, adding that it was doubtful if the former minister declared her true assets as required of public officials. SUSPECTED KILLER OF IKORODU FAMILY ARRESTED WITHIN SAME COMMUNITY

Policemen from the Ipakodo division have arrested a suspected killer of a family of three in Ibeshe Titun, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. It was learnt that the suspect, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, was arrested on Tuesday in the community. A resident, who asked not to be identified, said the suspect had been taken into custody and was being interrogated by the police. He said, “The man was arrested this morning (Tuesday) and he confessed to being a member of the gang that attacked and killed members of the family. He was beaten to a pulp by an angry mob as he also mentioned the names of their sponsors. Saudi police shoot dead IS suspect MARCH 8TH 2017,          Police in Saudi Arabia said Wednesday they shot dead a member of the Islamic State group in the capital, the latest suspected jihadist to be killed by security forces. According to several media reports, Miss Olivia Uchechi Ihionu lost her life at Adoration Ministry Uke on 15 August 2017. The deceased was the first daughter of her parents. She got engaged last Christmas and wass preparing to be married this Christmas. According to an eyewitness, she went to urinate in a nearby gutter after arriving the prayer ground and suddenly went missing. Due to heavy rainfall that day, she apparently drowned. It was later discovered that she fell into gutter, her lifeless body was found in the neighbouring village the following day.
